For all who are interested I recently backed up one of my dvd's. Just for the hell of it I tried the disk in my unmodded xbox. It worked flawlessly. I was amazed due to the fact of having a v1.0 xbox and thomson drive. I tried with Memorex DVD-RW, but they don't work. The ritek G04's are cheap and work great.

Yup... DVD's work. Note that what ever your drive will read for movies is usually the same for games, so you can check the various media threads here for more compatibility threads.

Yup, common knowledge that a DVD-R movie will work on an unmodded XBOX. I was doing those for a few weeks before I got mine modded.

Must say I was lucky enough to get a samsung drive in my box - reads everything I've thrown at it, DVD -R, +R, -RW, +RW CDR CDRW
