I love the irony, in how all people do is piss on M$ name around here, oh wait, we're in the forums at xbox-scene, hmmm who makes the Xbox huh.gif

I love how people always have hated them, because they say their software is under attack all the time, maybe cause they know M$ has software on almost all PC's, so who better to attack ??

I love the Linux junkies who piss on M$, yet there OS is not good for personal users, servers yes I love my Linux, personal use no, its craptacular with everyone from here here to the Eastern World, writing code for that thing, I'm surprised it doesn't implode.....

I guess I'm just wondering if its not a follow-the-leader type deal, where just because people see, screw M$ on these forums, they in turn start to bash it too..

WHy am I sticking up for them ?? Cause I use their software and it helps me to do what I wanna do everyday, not to mention playing and messing around with my Xbox's.... IF it weren't for M$ I wouldn't be here at home typing this, I'd probably be at the university studying for the test in my next class..... laugh.gif

Damn.. look at that, MicroShaft screwed you out of that A+ you should be getting.

tongue.gif

Anyway.. I really didn't mean to say 'screw microshaft' I was really just saying.. they sure do F**K up a lot and they charge a h*ll of a bundle for their software too.. and if you are using their server software and you have problems that you need fixed now.. guess what.. it's $125 a pop to talk to their tech support on the phone (this, to my knowledge is for server software only, as I have called them for free on personal software). So yeah.. you are right, that in general, they don't really give the personal user, the screw, but for business users (I maintain 7 windows 2000 servers, 1 exchange server and 4 sql servers at work), they charge an arm an 1 ball for their software, then they shaft ya every chance they get... Thankfully I'm fairly well at maintaining the server stuff myself and have only had to call their tech support 2 times in 5 years... So yes, the personal consumer, MS offers them a nice package for the money.. the business user is almost always going to get the screw....

That’s what I keep telling my Linux buddies “The only reason there’s not many viruses and attacks on Linux because not many people have Linux most user have windows there fore it has the most attacks and viruses”

Its funny when the Linux people say that Linux is hacker proof and what not I just laugh at them….here’s a link on how much Linux is hacker proof. CLICK HERE

i agree 100% with yourwishismine (and you know i'm not just following the leader there smile.gif )...i'm in a similar work environment. they practically make businesses buy licenses in order to buy licenses for a M$ mouse to connect to a Windows OS.

but they do make some good stuff...and i dare say that today's technology scene would probably look like the 70s if it weren't for the popularity of windows. if linux were on 90% of the world's computers, we'd be hearing about linux vunerabilities everyday.

however, i am VERY glad that linux and the opensource movement came into being...no entity as powerful as micro$soft should go unchecked.

M$ make fantastic software that we ALL seem to take for granted. Yes M$ is an evil empire, but what large successful company isn't? It's a bit like Evox... Evox was the benchmark, before evox there was nothing, it's easy to be arrogant to sit back, take someones ideas and pick holes in them in hindsight, especially if your trying to get peoples respect for having "uncoventional" or "anti establishment" trendy views. The whole "M$ suck0rs, linux rocks" thing bores me to death, and it only seems to be *nix newbs that seem to shout it the loudest "look at me you windoze llamas ! I run linux!!!!" woopee f*cking doo. I'd run a linux desktop fulltime too, if I didn't have like WORK to do. I'd even manage networks of thosands of linux desktops, yeah, like hell I would! Give me another 50 pairs of hands and I'd have a go.

Thing is, who the fuck are you people to tell someone they can't hate M$ just because they have an xbox? As stupid as their reason may be, it's their choice. Like shit, racist, yea it's stupid, but who the fuck are we to tell them they can't hate a person simply because of where they're from/color?

M$ made a great console, wonderful for modding, a fairly nice selection of games, and the ingenious controller connector thing (countless times that's saved my xbox from crashing to the ground).

And, have we forgotten xbox-linux? You can turn your xbox into a fairly cheap PC, regardless of your opinion of M$, shit, do it to spite their ass, or for shits and giggles.

I hate windows, I hate M$ software, but I deal with it because it's too much of a pain when it's not my computer. I'd have to boot windows if someone else wants to use it. Luckily I only have to use windows, and I can use software like Open Office, Mozilla and the like, as aposed to M$ offerings.

i don't think anyone here was telling anyone else they CAN'T hate M$, but if they were, are you telling us we CAN'T tell people to hate M$?

seems kinda hypocritical if you are...

And you care where I posted this because ????

I posted in here, because its people that think similar to me and enjoy similar things that post in here... Oh did you notice I'm a MOD in this forum, yeah thats because I like MXM and since people with the same liking of dashboards as me dwell in here, I posted to see what they had to say about the subject, because unlike what you said, I care about what they have to say....

LAMER POST, NEXT....

Your right, nobody ever said that. But your original post was kind of getting at that, how this is xbox-scene, a place for modding a M$ product, and how it annoys you that people complain about M$.

And no, I wasn't specifically saying you can't tell people they can't hate M$, I'm just saying, if they want to, who are we to try and stop them? If you want to tell them they can't, well they already do and nothing you say is going to change that, but by all means, be my guest.

Speaking of irony, I've worked at Apple technical support for over 4 years now, I know those machines inside and out, OS X can do nothing that I can't solve...

but yet..

I use windows XP at home.

I don't even own a Mac and I get 25% off any mac I want. I work with LOTS of anti MS people and I keep telling them why hate them because they are #1?? Theres a reason they are #1. If Apple computer can't compete with MS, how in the hell is Linux every going to do it?

I do agree that people who knock MS and say they mod the xbox to spite MS make no sense. MS dont care, you still paid THEM for the box, really its the game manufacturers gettin hurt, not MS. MS probly makes more money since many destroy the xboxes the first time and have to buy another.

Actually, for every XBOX sold, MS loses between $25 and $50 dollars. They were never planning on making their money off of the XBOX itself, but selling live subscriptions, extra controllers, software, ect. ect... so to say they are making money everytime someone has to buy a new box is just incorrect. They actually lose money, but they hope to make it up in the end on the other stuff....

those last 2 posts bring up something i've often thought about...

they don't make money off the box. they make money by selling the xdk to devs and through Live subscriptions. so doesn't it seem stupid for them to ban modded boxes from live? they're losing money there. i guess to them it is a selling point to devs, but there aren't that many live-enabled games when compared to the games that aren't live enabled. i just don't see how banning us makes good business sense to them. i think they would make more money if they just voided our warranties without banning us.

thought?

It's not that they ban modded boxes.. they ban them if they login with the chip ON. Big Difference.

Also.. they got the money for your subscriptions.. so they don't care if you are banned.

They keep the subscription if you violate the TOS.

Sale of XDK to the number of publishers who actually purchased it is not subsidizing the XBOX. Revenue is from the sale of peripherals, games, and the live services sold to the consumer. That is their business model. (one that suffers when people buy and xbox and only pirate games)

As noted many times.. This initial consoles isn't designed to be a money maker. It's designed to take market share. They did that. NOw it's up to them to take the ball and run with it.

As for voiding your warranties.. if you've modded it.. you've already done that.

They'd lose a lot of money if people started playing pirated games on Live. If that isn't a big enough problem, Live could potentially be poisoned to death by cheaters. MS's main cash cow, the people who buy the games and pay for Live service, would be directly threatened by cheaters on Live. MS's reasons to keep unsigned code off Live are quite valid, and I happen to think they're right.

Using a hardware you purchased for whatever you want is your right, but destroying MS's Live service (regardless of whether or not you think MS is an evil empire) is just blatantly wrong on so many different levels. It wouldn't just be ripping off MS, it would also be ripping off all the people that paid for Live, expecting fair competition free of cheaters.
