Ok, since i figured out why my samsung and my philips dvd drives dont read original xbox games, but it reads my cdrw/cdr media, i tried my friend's thomson dvd drive and it works just fine, any idea how i can fix this? and BTW, dont deal w\D3c0yFAN he's a nice guy, my xbox mobo i got from him works just great, but the samsung drive doesnt work very well, it wont read original dvds, so i guess its a toss up w\him...nice guy and all, but i havent been able to get ahold of him for the past 3-4 weeks maybe

Try cleaning the dvd drive. Doesn't make much sense for it not to read originals but reads backups...is it a stock Samsung drive or is it a modded PC dvd drive?

stock samsung drive, not the pc dvd u have to mod, same w\the philips theyre both original xbox dvds, ill try to use my cd cleaner in a few min

ok well my philips now works so far, i tested a couple of xbox games on it and it plays...but my samsung is still fucked up

the stupid philips is rarely reading originals now...any thoughts??

I am having the same problem with a samsung drive.

It will read my backups no problem but not originals, (games or movies)

Also slight video distortion in Xbmp....

I am going to try to clean the dvd drive and see what that does..

Also looking for any other ideas short of replacing the dvd
