Ok I use to use XBMP 2.0 on a CD-RW to watch videos from my PC and view pictures and listen to music and it worked perfect (well sometimes locked up but rarely). Recently I installed a larger hard drive in my xbox and decided to load some apps on my system, one of the first things I loaded was XBMP 2.4 and XBMC. I setup my XBMC path as follows SMB://mypcname/videos and it worked flawless, however I still want to use XBMP too, especially for its shoutcast support. when I enter the same information in XBMP it doesnt let me connect to my PC, I even tried using SMB://myworkgroup/mypcname/videos and that doesnt work either, after that I copied and pasted the information from my old 2.0 xml file which looks like this SMB://xbmp:xbmp@workgroup/mypcname/videos and that doesnt work either, I'm not sure whats wrong and why it would work in XBMC and not XBMP, if anyone could help that would be awesome.

well no one replied anyway but I'm getting the same problem with xport emulators, so I just installed relax and it works fine so I don't mind samba not working, even though it should.

In xbmc the syntax is as follows:
smb://Domain;username:password@pcname/share
In xbmp the syntax is this:
smb://username:password@workgroup/pcname/share
With XBMC you could use this with configs using no passwords etc:
smb://pcname/share
and with xbmp
smb://workgroup/pcname/share
Note: pcname can be switched to the ip# of the smb computor
