well first off NIC is a network interface card, there is one in your pc and then the nic prefered to be called ethernet on the xbox mobo.

ok,now that's out of the way, hook it up using the crossover cord,
goto the network neighborhood properties, go to the nic propeties, and then the internt protocol tcp\ip properties, and type

ip address - 192.168.0.1
subnet - 255.255.255.0 (ussually comes up auto when u hit Tab after putting in ip address.
ok now close that so that it saves!!

for the xbox make the ip # 192.168.0.x - x meaning whatever # u want, im using 2 (easy)
default gateway 192.168.0.1 same as pc's domain one!! and subnet mask - 255.255.255.0.
not go to save and exit!! restart xbox.

connect to ftp program and the address would be 192.168.0.x, x indicates whatever # u made your xbox ( i use 2), port 21 user - xbox and pass - xbox. note that v1.8.458 doesn't use pass and user.

have fun!!

when finished make sure u go back to the tcp\ip settings check the obtain ip address automatically or u won't be able to connect to the internet.

Looking down at the plug, pins uppermost and away from you, cable towards you, numbered from left to right:-

One end:

3 = White/Green
4 = Blue
5 = White/Blue
6 = Green

Other end:

Pins 4, 5, 7 and 8 are optional on 10baseT or 100baseTX connections, which is what you're connecting here.
