Version 1.0 Xbox.
Xenium ModChip w/ Chameleon Solderless adapter. I hooked up everything just fine so that's not my problem.

I can boot up just fine and see the menu screen, but I can't flash a BIOS on it for some reason. I have looked and no where does it show what bank mode to choose when flashing. I don't know if I should choose 1x1MB, 2x512k, 2x256k+1x512k, 4x256k. I tried choosing different banks, but nothing works. On the CD that I burned, I put only one file on it. That one file is the BIOS.BIN (Xecuter2.4981 w/512k in size). That's the only thing on the CD. I put the CD in and then I select the option that reads: Flash BIOS from: D:/BIOS.BIN. I choose that and after about 45 seconds it says can not load file from CD.

I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I tried looking for a list that shows compatible CD's with Xbox, but couldn't find one. I tried using a Memorex CD-R. I have a Thomson drive. What is my problem? Is my CD not compatible with my drive? Do I need to fill up the CD with other junk to balance it out? Did I choose the wrong bank?

Thanks for the help in advance.... sad.gif

thomsons and CD-R usually don't mix well. But it may be because u only have that one file. Put a dummy file (pick a random file that's at least 50 mb) and put it on the bios CD. If that doesnt' work, then try using an Imation CD-RW.

I have never had much luck with cd-r in Thompsons. I have my best luck with cd-rw and dvd-rw. Try some different media

I am going to try a CD-RW and put a dummy file as well. I HOPE *crosses fingers* it's that the CD is not compatible with the Thompson drive OR I needed a dummy file on there. If it's not, I have no clue what I am going to do.

On a side note, I saw a list once choing all CD's that were compatible and not compatible with certain drives. I've only seen it twice and can't seem to find it anymore.

For the EvoX ISO I am going to burn to the CD. All I have to do is "Burn Image" right and choose the EvoX ISO and burn?

Yes, data cd>burn image> evox ISO> burn

The only suggestions I can give is this.

1. You need a pad file on the same CD as the BIOS.bin. This is a 100mb (or so) file that pushes the bios file to the outer edge of the CD so the the laser can read it easier.

2. From what I've read your chances of reading a CD-R disc with a Thompson drive is somewhere between laughable and shoot yourself. You need to get some memorex CD-RW disks. If you can't get memorex, then some other name brand stuff. You can also try adjust the potentiometer on the Thompson drive.

3. Make sure you've created the BIOS.bin file with X2 Bios Manager. You can find that at the teamxecuter link too.

Hope that helps

I found a CD-RW that worked for the BIOS.BIN. I added ADUMMY.BIN that was a big file with the BIOS.BIN and I was able to flash the banks no problem. Now, I don't know what I was supposed to flash? Any help here? The BIOS.BIN is 512k. I don't know what bank mode to flash and what bank to flash within that mode?

Also, after I flashed each bank on the bank mode: 2x512k I tried to load EvoX after. I used the same type of CD and I "Burned Image" evox.iso onto the CD by itself. Now, how do I load it? While on the main menu screen I stuck in the CD, but nothing happens. There is no option within the Xenium menu to load a dashboard so I don't know how to load EvoX. Any help here would be appreciated....

put the cd in, reboot the xbox, it will try to boot the cd like a game and then if you burned the cd properly it will boot

you seem kinda new to all this and it shows that you haven't read many tutorials (or failed to understand them)

i suggest to you to get slayers 2.5 and let it automatically do the installs for you so you don't screw it up and end up asking us why it gives you error 13

Well back to the drawing board...

I need to find myself some more tutorials that show me how to properly burn a BIOS on a CD that will work with my mod and how to properly burn EvoX on a CD as well. I also need to find myself a tutorial that show's me what each bank does and knowing which one to pick.

I wish Xbox-Scene had their stuff more organized. When they have the same tutorial, but by different people over and over it's confusing as hell trying to find one that actually helps you. Oh well, thanks for the help.
