am in australia and cant get the xenium to boot up to menu screens with the ms dvd dongle in any of the ports. i have installed 10 chips and they all seem to be the same. i waited for the os update and have spent the afternoon updating all boxes but i still have the prob, which is if their is 2 controllers in( both originals) and the dongle in, it hangs on boot up, as soon as i remove the dongle i have no problems. any ideas?

Does it work with one controller on port 1 and remote on port 4?
I believe the magic is to have remote on port 4.
Try that with different combinations.

works fine with 1 controller but as soon as their is 2 it s**ts itself, which is fine but it means i have to tell people to boot with 1 controller then put the second 1 in. which is a real pain in the arse because they will ring up all the time if they forget.

Not that this helps at all, but I'm also in Australia and I have no problems at all doing it with my 1.4.
How odd!

No problems here either even with all 3 filled and a DVD dongle in...
maybe it's a power issue I wonder...
Have you tried flipping the emergeny recovery switch and letting it run the 1.1 OS update?
EDIT I'll join Flagg3 it does boot with no controller in too!

No problems here either after the 1.1 update. I can now boot with no controller, with just the dongle plugged in, or any combination including a logitech wireless.
Are you sure the update took?

No problems here with the DVD dongle being plugged in here either before or after the update.

i think its just you, not the chips or os

mine works without anything plugged in
all 4 plugged in (2 m$ controllers, wireless, and dvd remote)
lust the dongles of 2 m$ controllers
and i agree with tidus

tell your customers to not be lazy
