It's pretty damn easy just put it in and reformat using the auto installer or whatever way you want to do it.

It gets easier every month, haha. They now have so many ways to do it. But yes i'd go with slayers or if you have xenium use the xenium OS for drives under 137gigs. Give it another couple of months and they will have a blow up robot for 10 dollars that will do it for you

Its easier than getting a mod chip.
Plug the HD in like you would in a PC, then boot with a bootable disc (namely Slayers Evox) and you are in business!
Not only is it easy - it's definitly worth it!

slayer's slayer's slayer's. check out x-disk. installs a lot more stuff and uses newer software. slayer's isn't the only auto installer.

NO.....of course you don't have to use screws....you can just zap it open with your mind.......

edit: you need t10 and t20 screwdrivers to open case and take out hardware. then you need a t15 screwdriver to actually take hdd out of plastic black thingy.

it's extremely easy dude. once you open your xbox it is pretty self explanitory. just unscrew some stuff, unplug some stuff. there are 6? screws inside you will have to worry about, and 6 outside. the hard drive is right on top and the first to come out though.

With all this talk of slayers, mind if I ask what exactly they are? Also, if I put a 120GB 7200RPM, would it overheat? Would I need to do a 12v fan mod (w/e that is)?

i thot it would be kind of hard, but i just installed a 160gb myself and it was easy... although, im not sure if i formatted it right so it would recognize the full 160 gigs..

on my 120, i have about 15 games and 70 movies, and still room for more!
yes, you can put the xbox hard drive in your pc after you buy a new one.
slayers is an auto installer. you pop it in the cd and it formats the new hard drive and installs evox and apps.
no, it should not overheat. the 12v fan mod is very loud. you can set the percentage of the fan in the bios. (it's normally at 20%, i use 30%)
any more questions?

Hey,
I was just wondering if I've got it straight here to do a couple mods. Im gonna list what I think Ive gotta do and someone tell me if i'm wrong...
1. Install my Executer 2.3b Lite+ chip
2. Flash my chip using the cd I made (what is the latest bios??)
3. Make an Evox Dasboard boot cd.
4. Get my Evox dashboard up and running...
At this point my xbox box is fully capable of FTPing and playing my backup copys of games...
Now if I wanted to install a new hard drive I would proceed to these steps...
5. FTP your xbox and back up your old hard drive.
6. Take out the old hard drive.
7. Install your new hard drive.
8. Pop in a Slayers auto installer and we are back to normal except with a bigger HD.
Does slayers install the evox dashboard, also what aplications does it put on???
Thanks, any help is apreciated.

Installing my new hd was a lot easier than installing my modchip i thought. Took about 4 hours for the modchip to be completely up and running, about 30 minutes for the hd to be completely up and running.

seriously, installing a new hard drive is the easiest mod if done with slayers. you want a tuitorial? download slayers and download the slayers tuitorial. it's so damn simple a fetus could do it! (don't know what made me think of that)
