A while ago I thought I saw a thread where someone was asking if you could create a AUDIO DVD instead of CD so that your xbox could rip all of the songs to the MSDashboard, however now after searching for this I couldn't find the post so I was wondering if this works? Creating a Audio DVD then ripping all the songs to MSdash, in case you are wondering why i want to do this it's because my friends have been bugging me to put music on their xbox so they can listen to it ingame.
Thanks in advance for any Replies

I've done this with MP3s but still burned the DVD in UDF format. My DVD player will play mp3s.

I want to make sure I understand, you burned the DVD in CD-Audio format? Where each track was around 30MB?

using nero, not express, choose new compilation then dvd-rom(iso). add all your mp3 and wma s etc... burn this dvd as normally.
did just run my dvd in xbmp, and bingo!!, works just fine.
xbmc sucks big time thoug, the dvd drive was just jumping up and down... blink.gif
but this all my songs with long names were cut off sad.gif ....
have to rename many of them..
But mp3 and wna etc... songs on a dvd+rw/r works, i`ve just tried it... it took like 10 minutes to burn it.., you could almost ftp them instead..

884 songs at 3.6 gb.....
i use verbatim
Mr Ed
Yeah, all you did was make a UDF format DVD with compressed music files on it.

Was that what the original question was about? unsure.gif

I'm so confused. blink.gif

i recall a reply where i said i made this dvd with mp3s on, i`m not sure if that was the actual question... i can`t find the orginal thread blink.gif
i`ll keep my eyes open for it, it`s probably easier for me to find it...

Well none of this has been any help wink.gif
I want to know if I can make a music DVD (that is like a music CD) so that i can then rip it with the MSDASH!

I don't think the Xbox reads DVD-Audio discs. I heard someone had success with a PS2, but i'm not sure. The thing is, most CD burning programs only let you burn CDA (the required format for CD Audio) to CD-R/CD-RW and they don't really let you convert your mp3's to CDA so i don't know how you would go about doing that.

I've just tried making a music dvd and guess what? It didn't fluffin work!I forced Xbox comp in Nero converted my tunes to audio and slapped it into my box with a message popping up, your xbox can't read this disk blah blah.

Mr Ed
I wonder if anything could read that disc? Have you tried it in your DVD player? Does it behave like an audio CD when you put it in your computer?

/Digs dvd r out of bin

Yes it plays in my PC dvdrom but I think I messed up when converting my mp3's to wav's as there is alot of background noise.

tricky one, to get MS dashxbox to run dvds with mp3 s on it... since you`ll have to use a dvdr nd not a dvdrw to try this stunt. but, wouldn`t this depend on what dvd drive you have in the xbox...if it`s a non mod xbox.
hmmm. a solution for this would be a nice dry.gif

*Ahem* For those who don't understand, he's not trying to make a DVD full of MP3's, he wants to create a DVD audio disc, which is a DVD disc filled with either CDA (Compact Disc Audio) or what ever other format those 5.1 DVD Audio discs use. MP3's and WMA are not part ofthis equation.

and duudfromnorway, it doesn't matter what kind of DVD it is, as long as the xbox will read it.

Yep this is exactly what I want to do... seems like i will just have to try myself!
it must be possible, even if it is only by somehow 'fooling' the xbox as it reads 99min cd-r if you have a sammy
duudfromnorway
the way i figure this, a plain dvd drive would not read a dvdrw only dvdr.
so a xbox drive would read a dvd rw even if it`s not mod?? i didn`t know that.
sorry for using up tthe space in here uhh.gif
