Hey this Friday and Saturday I will be in Toronto and want to hit the bars. It has ben a few years since I did that and am not sure where would be the best place to hang.
It will be me and a buddy and we are 29 & 30. A few years back I really liked the Joker but it looks like it caters to a much younger crowd.
What we like is a club with a good mix of music (R&B, Hip Hop, House, etc) that is PACKED (I love large bars with large dance floors.)
There has to be women too!!!!
Any recommendations? What about Guvernment Complex? We will be right around the Queen St/Younge Street area so there should be plenty around.
Thanks,
Around

I was going to suggest a couple of Bars... not Clubs, which is what I think you're looking for after you mentioned hip hop.
As my brother says... You can't spell crap without rap.

Definitely go to Church and Wellsley. You and your buddy should find some nice disco clubs there.

...or you might head down Queen south towards Bay to University... that's where many the hot clubs are (the ones with long lines bouncing everybody but the "beautiful people"). Much Music's studio is down that way, too.

Try Government or G Spot. You find any house here though. Great clubs.

I've always heard Canada was very clean... Course, I'm sitting here in sunny Florida thinking about how cold it must be in Canada. Burrrrr.

Clearly you have never been there and don't know what you're talking aboot. I'm from Vancouver and happen to think TO is a very modern, clean, decent city.
You want to talk armpit, go to a US city like ... Seattle, Portland, Detroit. Truly wretched hives of scum and villainy, rife with urban sprawl and decay. Unclean, unsafe, dingy and an affront to the senses. LA should be nuked from orbit... I've travelled a fair bit and can honestly say LA is the worst place I've ever been. There's shitholes in the former Soviet Union that have more to offer than LA.
Toronto is an egalitarian utopia in comparison to those US cities.
And seriously, we all know Winnipeg is an armpit, eh

If you are coming to Toronto..
Check out the DOCKS. Amazing.. bars.. sports complex.
Stay AWAY from CHURCH street. ALL OF IT. Unless you are into bumping ugly with the same sex.
JOKER is an OK bar.
Different bars are ok for different reasons. It all depends what you are looking for.

Awe man... you are no fun.
I was having visions of a
Police Academy "Blue Oyster" scene....
Anyway....
Seems like every time I get to Toronto, the "trendy" clubs are always different. IF that's your scene, be prepared to wait in long lines. Otherwise, the clubs HS recommends will probably work well for you.
Of course, if you are looking for strip clubs, there are several standbys along Yonge (Zanzibar, Brass Rail)... not sure how tame it's gotten there in recent years, though.

Holy shit... I was thinking the SAME thing!
And yes, the Zanzibar and Brass Rail are uber sweet.

BenJeremy, next time you come to toronto, I insist that you send me an email and allow me and my girlfriend to take you out for dinner. I had no idea you visited up here from time to time (work related I assume?) anyway, seriously, next time you visit, you HAVE to look me up.

Please don't lump Portland in with Seattle and Detroit.
