on about or aboot?
The 6 screws on the case of my x box are all safety torx head screws. (star shaped screw head with a pin in the middle so off the shelf tools cant open it)
A standared robertson #1 screwdriver will fit in without modifying either the tool or the screw heads.
How do you get your case apart?

I bought a complete screwdriver and drill bit set (including torx) kit at Canadian Tire for $12 CAN.

Is my machine the only one with anti tampering screws holding the case together. The proper bit for my xbox case screws is not just a standard torx - but a torx with a hole in the centre. A standard torx just hits the pin in the middle of the screw and spins.
The rest of the screws inside the case are all standard torx.

undercover - thank you!! That is the baby. I thought I was on to something useful here. Turns out as usual to be useful to nobody.
How do you tell the version? Mine is manufactured on 2002-06-11 and is product id 242 4042297 22302 Phillips dvd and seagate HD
Mine stopped working with an error 7 (checked ide cable to no avail) after a few nights of being left on with a dvd-r spinning all night. Strange that it would quit a few weeks after getting a dvd burner.
Mine was purchased in Canada. Probably one of the first machines off the line as I believe it was in my heavily allocated first xbox shipment.

Screw NAPA. Go to AutoZone. Buy parts and make my stocks go up in price.

You have a digital Beamscope? If so get some pics of these screws and post them. Maybe Bill did a limited test of these to see what people would do about it. I've modded all versions of the XBox and never seen these things.

Sure - now I have to figure out how to upload pics.
Should be up soon.
Shit - here comes the part where you never hear from beamscope again, but someone else with the same IP joins up right away... Ya see as I lined up the screws to take a pic I realize that I am a fool. No wonder people thought I dont know what i was talking about - turns out I dont.
Thanks in advance for not flaming my ignorance.

i think pretty much we all realised what the screws were that u were talking about , but not many (if any) people had came across them on xboxs

,the only thing i can think of is we have a place in u.k called"crazy georges" probably got em all over the world ,they sorta give credit to people who aint got great credit historys(and charge a fortune in interest) well my m8 got a pc from there and the case had been refitted with security torx so that it couldnt be opened or upgraded @ least not as easily as it should have been this was due to the fact that if u default on the payments the shop sends round "the boys" to take it back
not that im saying you got your box from such a place m8 ,

What I meant by my last post was that I was mistaken on the screws. Nothing fancy or diferent on my xbox. I aparently smoked a bit too much and was seeing pins where there was none.
Thanks all for not outright calling me stupid and offering solutions to my imagined problem.

There is a depate of DECRIMINALIZING weed, not legalizing. We are getting pressure from the states to not decriminalize it. By decriminalizing it, if you have less then 30 grams or smth on you, you dont have to go to coart. Just a fine. Im not exacly sure on how much it is, because its always changing.

What pisses me off is that I have crappy vision and it takes me too long to determine whether I need a Torq or Hex driver. Damnit, if I had any say in anything we'd all use hex (Not that robertson is bad, they're second best, go Canada)!
