Hi all,
I tried flash updating my friends bios on his xbox.. When I came across this:
DETECTED: SST 49LF020 (256K)
Programming with bios.bin...Read 262144 bytes from file
Starting at address 0x000000...
Erasing...
Trying to erase whole chip
ERASE ERROR AT +0x0...read 0x09
Done
Error: Erase failed for block at +0x0, reads as 0x09
Could your chip be write-protected?
Matrix/Xodus users need their switches both off
With a flashing orange LED. Note that you need
to cycle power to change switch mode
Completed
Anyone seen this before? I was able to dump the bios via ./raincoad -d oldbios.bin
So im at a small loss. Usually if its write-enabled u should be able to get the dump which it did normally.. but i cant ..
Any clues?
thx

...and I wouldn't hold much hope of finding a proper BIOS in that oldbios.bin, either.

the -d option dumps whatever bios is onboard. Technically it doesnt write to any file.. i could make it asdasdas.bin I use it as a good test to make sure that it is write-enabled. If I get a success then away I go. I'll probably end up re-trying the flash again w/ .7 today. I was pretty sure I did it. I know it worked because I originally flashed it in the first place.. I mod about 4 xboxes a week and I have never seen this bizarre-O message before.
