I cannot get system link to function with a unmodded and modded box. The Xboxes advise I have "a different version of the game".

I can get two modded boxes to work together but so much for the third box...

That's a problem I haven't heard of before. Regardless, you cannot legally use backups to play system link games. Sure, do it as you please but do not talk about it here. Buying a game gives you a single-user license, just like buying Windows XP, Word, whatever. You can make a backup of the game to protect your original disc, but you cannot use them both at the same time -- legally.

Way to go to the coders of the new Splinter Cell for doing their best to combat piracy!!!

well on the undmodded xbox did you sign on to live with it to play splinter cell and download the update because the update makes the game incompatible and you can't play with the unpatched version.

Um, no laugh.gif

When you first run PT, Live will download a patch to your Xbox for the game. Thus, a game with a patch will not work with a game without the patch.

Hoodedsoldier already acknowledged this, but I am just clarifying for PolarBear

I need you telling me what to do with the media I purchased like I need the RIAA monitoring my foobar playlist. You both can take a big wet bite out of the front of my backside.

So what does the issue being discussed have to do with Live? He was talking about playing in System Link, not Live. And are you saying that I'd have to connect my XBox to the internet to play the game with the retail disc? My XBox isn't connected to the internet, nor has it ever been.

That has got to be the most retarded way to combat Piracy.
I willing to bet they will lose more money by putting that in there.

I'm going out on a limb and saying that most of the modders out there are intelligent enough to social engineer another copy from

A- The store the originally bought the game
or
B- The store they rented the game

"Hi, yes I'd like to return this game for another copy of the same game please. When I put it into my XBOX it tells me the disk is dirty or damaged"

Like I said "retarded" and loss of money (however little it might be) on media

So what if you were playing PD using system link with two unmodded Xboxes where one had taken the update through live and the other one hadn't? Based on what you're saying, the two versions would be incompatible and wouldn't work, right? How would you be able to update the non-live Xbox so that you could play?
slt780
Trying to play system link with my brother and can't because he has the live update and I don't. Any way around this or do I have to get live to take the update as well before we can play?

I say screw live and yay for xbconnect. tongue.gif

Use Xbox Saves Manager and backup the WHOLE Splinter Cell 2 data, not just the profile. It should come to over 15MB. Then delete the whole thing off of the xbox and run SC2, the patch will have been deleted along with your profile, so make a quick profile and you can play system link again : )

If you want, you can copy back your old save game profile, but be careful not to copy back the entire SC2 data because that will include the patch and the versions will my incompatible again.

When you want to play on Live again, copy back the original data unless you want live to download the patch again.

just rename Pandora Tomorrow UDATA/TDATA Folders with a TAG LikE 55430013XBL

& boot up the backup game & create a new Profile & once you r done with xbc rename the Backup PT UDATA/TDATA Folders with a TAg Like 55430013XBC & rename 55430013XBL to 55430013

Voila!! Ur XBL Ready , no need to delete the whole files & reinstall again smile.gif.This Way is better as the Downloadable contents will increase ur 15mb, this method of mine will also work for other XBL Games)
