I want to install the Evox dash on my unmodded Xbox. I've already got Linux installed on F: through the MechAssault exploit, so I can ftp in and change things. What's the best way to do it? All I really need is a tutorial but I can't find one for my setup, just ones using other exploits, and I just want to be really carefull and make sure I don't f**k this up. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What kernel and dashboard version are you running?

Well if he used MechAssault linux then this installer should have installed dash 4920 for him. The thing is that the Mech-installer uses the font hack and I dont think you can tricker the audio hack after the Mech fonts have loaded. So in your case I would :
- Install some other hacked fonts (Catfish).
- Have them load PBL (load a hacked bios)
- Point the default dash of this bios to Evox.
- Add linux as an app in Evox.
So basically you xbox will boot to the MS dash. If you select the xbox live option (name replaced with something else) you lauch PBL which launches Evox. From here you can still launch Linux (if your evox.ini is set up correctly). This way you can run all homebrew software and backups.

Thanks for the fast replies.
Sounds good, can you give me some links? If you can't post them email me at peter@notacake.com
I'm a bit of a noob at this, so you might have to give me some guides on doing that. I'm good with hex editors and everything just new to the whole Xbox modding scene.
Thanks again

I would rather suggest that you search a bit around in this forum for tutorials and hints on using PBL and then ask questions if you are in doubt about something.
Don't mean to sound rude - but I just don't want to write yet another font/PBL tutorial.

Yeh I can understand. I'm in the process of looking around right now. Got any links to your tutorials?

I did not personally do any tutorials on font exploits but the are plenty. Go to the
tutorial index for a number of tutorials. It's confusing I know. But at least you will learn a bit about the concepts.
You situation is a bit different since your box is allready modded with the Mech-linux-installer. Most tutorials assume you are starting from a virgin state.

I've got Evox running using the MechAssault exploit, and I'm trying to backup. Every time I select Backup from the menu it says "Backing up

" then goes back to the main menu. When I use FTP there's no "backup" folder on C. What's wrong?
Kernel: 4817
Dash: 3752

first create an empty backup folder in c:. Then reboot xbox, run backup, reboot again, run ftp client and look in backup folder

It probably has to do with the fact you try it to run from a gamesave. maybe the backup folder needs to be in the root of the folder where evox is in. Otherwise just install evox on c: and some hack and run it again.

Aha thank you. It was creating the backup folder in the game save directory.
