Not to crap because I am honestly curious, I heard 616t's only do 4x when flashed with the firmware? I'm curious before I buy it and find out it's no better than my current sammy

i've read those reports also, but they are unconfirmed. I can't give you an answer to your question.

If you do think about it though...$85 is considered an average price around here for a stock sammy...so these are $95 shipped...a bit more expensive for a very reliable drive...If I had a thompson or a phillips I would without a doubt update my drive with one of these...but I have a stock sammy already so it would be rather pointless...

my modified reads games much quicker. Also it reads all media. the original 605 reads most, and has lots of problems with dvd+r while the 605 has no problem with anything. It is well worth the price and is a much better drive that will not only read games better but last you much longer.

justtaint, where do you get your unmodified drives from? I'm trying to find a good supplier, as these drives are hard to find and expensive, and I know how hard it is to make money modding them (I'm a modchip installer, part-time ). Lowest price I've seen is on compuvest.com, but I can not vouch for them because I've never made a purchase with them.
