ok im a new to this, and im sure you will all get pissy at me for askin but, i heard from someone that to be able to COPY xbox games and play them on ur xbox u need a mod chip, but they also said u could flash the bios, so i was wondering, if therre is a good place to start on this and what i need, and will i be able to do this with just a regular XBOX , like nothing in it, just new from the store, cuz that would be really cool, thanks

xbox-scene is full of all kinds of the info you're looking for. However, flashing the bios of the xbox would not be the smartest thing to do, cuz if you fuck up, theres no getting it back. most modchips these days have ways to fix a bad flash. just keep that in mind.

yeh but im really good at this stuff, but i cant afford to buy any extra equipment, so any help would be verry nice

Do you already have an xbox? I can get you a TSOP flashed (bios flashed) xbox for $200 or I can flash your TSOP for $30. If you have a v1.0 or v1.1 that $30 includes the switch to enable and disable the mod. PM me if you're interested.

Okay, There's a whole section of this forum devoted to TSOP flashing. Go back to the main page and look for it..... Then read.... Start with the pinned topics and work from there. You say you're really good at this and yet you can't find the info you need on an online forum that has 20 times the info you need repeated hundreds of times. Read, read, read, and then read some more. If you think you can browse the site for 30 seconds and someone will hold your hand from there on out you're wrong. If you ask specific questions that show you've been doing a bit of digging you'll find the results to be much more satisfying.

nodo and rylinkus, thanks for the info, nodo:ive checked out that tutorial but its not what im lookin for, and rylinkus, its ok i know im a bother, but the only reason i havent found what im looking for is becuz i dont think it exists, i didnt really clarify this but what i want to do is be able to only use a software fix so i can play backedup games on my xbox, which i heard could be done through flashing the bios, but i dont want to open my xbox or stuff like that, So, is there just a way to flash the bios on an xbox without any modifications

Your options are get a chip.
Flash the TSOP
Or do a softmod. (Will not flash bios, but will let you do lots of good stuff.)

If you don't want to open your Xbox the last option is the only one you have. I don't know enough about it to give you any help. Honestly opening your xbox isn't that big a deal. But that's gotta be your decision.

actually, i think ill just put linux on my box, i dont mind the backup game burning thing, and the software mod for linux is really ez thanks for all the help guyz
