Is it possible to stream media that is on the xbox hard drive to a pc? FTP does not suffice. My largest hard drive is on my xbox and I would like to be able to play songs that are on the hd on my pc.

i'm almost 100% sure there isn't a stream server for xbox to pc
if so, it'd probably be built into one of the media players but i dunno, most people would rather listen to music on stereo, not pc even if it has 5.1 or better
but seeing how mp3 currently doesn't really support 5.1 features i guess it doesn't matter

again, highly doubt there is one and dunno if anyone would make one cuz most people probably prefer stereo

Hmm I think it would be possible. Just that some one must make a stream server for the xbox. There must be alot of ppl that have music or movies on there xbox hdds.

Talk to the XBMC guys. Maybe they should implant that in ther xbmc for the pc.

Shouldn't be that hard to implant samba in linux and use that.

Ya, I have my xbox on my network, but there's no way to connect to it as an external drive, besides ftp right? I'm on a mac, and for the other computers i can just add the smb://(ip) but it doesnt work like that with the xbox.

EDIT: figured it out, sorta. i can connect to it by ftp://xbox:xbox@(ip) but it won't let me write to it.

Problem fixed; Xebian has a samba server. I wish the XBMC guys would implement some kind of streaming server.
