Okay, it seems as though I've got the steps down but I still keep getting a dd error. I'm wanting to apply patches to my original halo maps. I've done plenty of reading/searching but can't seem to find my answer.
I'm trying to take skytore.ppf and patch it to my bloodgulch.map. Here's what I've done so far:
Took a clean copy of my BG cache file (cache03)
Applied patch using PPF-O-Matic
Compressed file and renamed bloodgulch.map
Replaced my bloodgulch.map on my xbox hdd
I thought this was the proper procedure?? The only program I've gotten to actually compress with is Halo Map Editor. SparkEdit just hangs and says that it is compressing...please wait. I left it all night and it still didn't compress. When I use SE the map size is different and I think this is why it is giving DD.
I've also got the newest versions of Cartographer, WinHME, and HMT but I don't see where I can compress with those.
Can someone please help me here. I thought this would go smoother than it has.

As of right now I still have dialup.

I plan to go broadband by the end of next month. Perhaps I'll hit ya up then.
I already bought a new big screen TV in anticipation of Halo2. Now I just need to get better surround sound and broadband by then.

So far I've been able to compress:
ui.map
beavercreek.map
bloodgulch.map
boardingaction.map
damnation.map
I've not yet tried to compress any others. Are there some maps that SE is known to not compress?

what i meen is that some mods you are not able to open in spark edit. It gives an error. Therefor you cant compress it. You follow me so far.

Ahhh, I follow you now. I've not run into any problems as of yet.
BG - Skytore
Damnation - don't remember the ppf name (new gun models and green fire/smoke)
BoardingAction - BACatwalk
Battle Creek - Fly N Plants/turret mod combo
UI - Halo 2 mod
Some of those are pretty complex. Even if I can't get another mod in there I'll be happy with what I've got. Although, I'd like to fill each map with a mod. Greedy like that.

For your maps Xmania and DMauro's BG turret mod, you gotta use HME (I use 1.2.1) to compress and search XBS for a map resizer which automatically resizes the map for you.
