Hey guys, I know a few of you use the Xbox as a massive media centre for your PC2TV. Pretty much all I use it for. Anyway I didn't replace the DVD drive like a few of my mates who modded theirs. If you replace the drive all the media restrictions are gone...

Anyway. I can download games and burn them fine to dvd-r and they play 100%, though if I do a data burn of a dvd-r full of avis the dvd-r will not be recognised by the Xbox.

Anyone have any ideas how to do this? I was thinking that maybe I need to use one of those ISO creation application.... ... ..?

Ok I recently got an XBOX 1.5 with SDG-605 (Samsung) dvd drive and Aladdin Advance Mod chip.

Here are my test results with avi/mpg files burnt to dvd-r

To burn a complient dvd-r with say AVI media files the following condition must be met.

1) Burn all dvd media IN UDF 1.02 format.
Nero can handle this fine Just choose new -> DVD -> DVD UDF under the UDF tab select make xbox complient video box.

now add your media clips to the new compilation and Burn.

2) XBMC Latest (2004-04-19) has a bug which and can't handle any of the dvd media burnt in either iso/udf format.

Old versions of XBMC and XBMP handle the media fine so just grab
XBMP 2.4 and all media should play fine provided they are burnt in UDF xbox compliant format.

NOTE:
If dvd media burnt with iso9660 format BUG in both XBMC and XBMP
XBMC can't handle the dvd at all (reports blank disk)
XBMP Data size limitation. Only plays first 2 GB of media files. Fails to play remaining files listed (towards end of dvd disk)
