I don't see why not.

They will, but remember that EL lights put off huge amounts of EM noise... so actually INSIDE the drive would most likely cause more than a few read errors. Inside the case itself would most likely have a similar effect.

If you really want lights inside the drive, LEDs are the best way to go.

Where did you hear that EL wire puts out interference? I'm not saying it doesn't, I'm just asking becasue its the first time I've heard this. If EL wire puts out interference then wouldn't CCs also, because they both run off an inverter?

I had el wire on my case, and it put out quite a bit of noise; it got really annoying after like 5 minutes. My cathode doesn't put out any noise.
