This is so simple and prolly has been done a bunch, but I thought it was cool.

I moded every dongle I could find. I still had two stock non-transparent controller dongles left over. So, I just cut a hole in the top and made it glow.

First I just put a purple LED and resistor in.

Then I cut a hole out of the top of the dongle head.

Then I filled it with hot glue and let it sit. Then I sanded it down… and walla.

it is not sanded down all the way, and if I tried to be a bit more careful I would not need to canded it. The lights are actually deep purple, but the digital camera make them seem bright blue. So, it is not as bright as it looks at all.
I am going to over fill the other one I have and press a round cap down over it. This will form the glue into a shape. I was thinking of am “X” shape… that would be cool.

I haven't seen that done yet so its still new to me! I think I'm going to give it a try also. It probably would be a good idea to have a concave object that could be used to give it the correct form. Any ideas on what to use?

I was looking around,,. I found a plastic CD case center that is the right size and shape. I could put something in there to make an X shape. It would stick out like a button, not cave in… but either way would work really I guess.

Hey I had this idea a couple days ago.. Some guy was asking what to do with a solid black one so i told him to cut a hole in the top and put the led i and try and fill the hole with something

You can buy this kit to do this

WHAT A RIP !!!!!!!! And he charges $7 for shipping. These auctions make me laugh when I see them.

That is not a kit for modding a non-trasparent Dongle.

the saddest part is someone is paying $15 for it.

correction 22 with shipping, sorry had to. but yes that is a rip off.
back on topic this is a great idea, i think if you where to put a piece of electrical tape over the hole it would form with it to make it more formed. great job i think i might try this.
