Got a few ideas running around in my head which I wanted to try out, but as yet havent got round to it, figured I would see if anyone else has first.

Has anyone else tried wiring a USB port into a memory card, so it can be used on any controller (even if you only used the connector / shell of the memory card and not its internals) and if you did, what were the results?

I asume that each memory port in the controller is just a USB connector with a silly plug on it, so I take it you could have 2 USB devices connected into the controller and still use the controller without a problem?

Has anyone tried connecting a USB Hard Drive enclosure to an Xbox and seen what happens? Ive heard reports that the Xbox jsut sees it as a memorycard, but no confirmed reports, if anyone has done this, does it work just like a normal memory card, does it report (and have useable) all the space on the drive?

I was planning to knock something up along the lines of a USB harddrive, and being able to connect it to any xbox via means of the Memory ports, Obviously I realise you cannot launch xbe's from a memory card, but it could be usefull for transporting larger quantities of data directly between 2 xboxs.

Any help on this would be apreciated

i dont know much about this type of stuff...im a mod newb, but from what i've read you can make a card with a usb port in it...shouldn't be hard, but as for the hard drive i have no clue, it would be cool though...anyone else know about this?

I'm a little confused, are you planning to take a memory card and a usb hard drive and interface the hard drive to the memory card slot connector? If so then yes you are right all the xbox controllers, peripherals are just usb with different connecters and the extra yellow wire. This is a cool idea, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work as its not much different than wiring a usb port to the xbox

Yeh, thats basically it, I want to turn a memory card (at least, its connector and shell, dont need the guts of it) into a "USB Card". basically so you can use USB on any xbox, via any controller.

With regards to the USB harddrive, what Ive read is that if you connect a USB harddrive to an XBOX (Via USB modded controller / port) the XBOX sees it as a memory card, but what Im trying to find out is whether it sees (and can make use of) the entire space on the drive.

It would allow you to have a USB harddrive which you could connect to ANY xbox (provided its modded) via ANY controller and use something like Xbox file explorer to copy dash files etc... to the USB Harddrive (as Im guessing it would be allocated a drive letter as a memory card does). I just dont know how the xbox behaves with a USB Harddrive plugged in.
