at first i was intent on putting leds in
but after doing some reading on the cold cathode lighting
it so much easier and faster and cleaner.
i had 24 leds hooked up in parrallel and it was bright but i also had to solder alot
and hot glue alot and add alot of heat shrink.
with cold cathod lighting i just plug it in hot glue it where i want it. and bang its done and bright.
now i can see using leds for the dongle,controller and mayb hard tight spots on your box but not the jewel or preview windows.
just my opinion.

I can't tell if your posing a question or your trying to convince yourself into using the cold cathode method. And am not gonna flame you by telling you do a search. I like the cc better it's fast, easy, and bright. But the downsides is that your not really learning anything ie "modding". Also you can control the brightness of your jewel by chosing specific leds.

and cc is a few bucks cheaper then some leds and then the supplies on top of that.

I've decided on LED's because it's more "hands-on" than using cc's. With cc's it just seems like you're taking the easy way out, and not really putting a whole lot of time into your mod. I've got nothing against cc's and I think they look really nice, but I would just feel more of a sense of accomplishment if I went through all the trouble of wiring LED's on my own.

Like some other people have said: Leds Seem to give a truer color. So Leds.

i used a cold cathode light off a cimputer fan and man o man does it look sweet.. i also frosted the lens alittle so its not just a beam of light bursting out of the middle of my box but yeh i def like the way the cold cathode like looked compared to the blue LED's plus much cleaner...

I prefer leds. Yes they can be a pain in the ass to set up but they are way cheaper then cold cathodes and give you just as bright glow as a cathode but yet still easy on the eyes and can see what your taking a picture of.

I like my cc. It glows nicely, and brightly. I will probly be getting into LEDs a lot more. Either that or cc sticks.

Yea My LED HALO could have been MUUUUCH nicer but I didn't have the right type of wire at the time So the wire i used was completely bare so instead of having to put a lil bit of hot glue I needed a lot to cover the wires from touching lol

CC all the way for the Jewel..., and LEDs for everything else.

cc, there nice and easy to isntall and has a nice glow

CC look alright but I would still use leds over cc any day
