I have made various posts about my xbox, but I decided to go ahead and post an in-depth description of what is going on with my xbox
ok here is my situation.
I modded my xbox with an aladdin chip. took me a good while to finally get the damn thing to work. took it over to a friend's place and he took a look at it and showed me how to do solder jobs and so on.
well in the process of soldering a small piece fell off. The part that came off is R3G5 which is an SMD resistot value is 10k. the only thing that is wrong is that half the led isn't lighting correctly. mod mode was working great but since the piece has fallen off, I can't boot in default mode because I get an error that says I need to call customer service. i believe the error number is 16 but i am not sure right now.
but the chip mode was working fine. I loaded things on to the factory drive and everything was great.
well yesterday i bought a new hard drive. the hard drive is 250 GB and is lockable and compatible with my xbox. I formatted the hard drive, but only about half of the space was usable and I remember reading that old bioses don't read anything larger than i think like 140 GB. so I decided to flash the chip with slayers. i flashed it with 256K x2 4977 +137 and now the chip mode is not working. I was notified after the fact, which I guess i should have read up on it more, that only certain bioses can be flashed to the aladdin chip.
so i posted on xbox-scene. i was told that if I had a "programmer" I could fix it. I have no idea what this is. if it is a piece of hardware or software or what. I was also told to boot with another chip and then hotswap the chip with another chip and reflash. although I don't know how would could do this. desolder the whole chip and put a new one on then desolder this chip with the xbox on and put the old in? seems like it would be very complicated.
I was also given the option of mailing someone my sst chip. he claims that he can flash the bios with only this chip. I have no idea how to get this off of my aladdin chip. he says he will do it for free just i have to pay shipping. I am seriously considering this option since even if the guy screws me and doesn't send it back, I am going to have to buy a new chip anyway from what I hear. the guy has been very nice to me and very responsive so far. I also have no idea how to remove this from the chip. I don't wanna damage it. do I just pry it out with a flathead screwdriver?
I was also told that I could boot my xbox with the chip disabled, use a software hack such as 007AUF or mechasult to run evox, then enable your chip and flash it. but i am not sure how to do this and plus default mode is not working for me now. I think I remember reading that i have to solder more points to do this.
so yeah as of right now. when I quick press for default mode, the xbox goes through its opening sequence, then the error screen comes up.
when I hold the button for mod mode. the hard drive spins up and the mod light comes on for a second then hesitates and cuts off and then boots into defualt mode.
then if I hold the button down... all the xbox does is blink red and green.
the xbox doesn't even recognize the slayers' disk now, so yeah i think the bios flash didn't go so well. I would also like to be able to boot in default mode again. i don't know if this is possible. will flashing the xbox bios take care of this problem?
