Yea I've been reading all these topics about windows on the XBOX. I am just gonna flatly ask what is the best method to run a 3D PC game run on my xbox. I have a xenium chip if that matters at all.

the best (only) way right now is under linux. I think tux racer runs (from old xbox linux pics) but I can't say what runs well etc as I haven't tried it.) I dont think too many windows 3d games will do well in xbox linux, not sure how far along the 3d drivers are for the xbox GPU under linux.
you could always run it on a real PC though

About the tuxracer screenshot (and it's not good news):
3D does work, but.. it used software rendering; it ran at 1 fps.
They're probobly never going to get 3D working, so don't hold your breath.
If you must bug someone about it, on OFTC in #xboxlinux, talk to dmp. Gimli sometimes works on video stuff. TJFontaine might also help.

rotfl. and windows doesn't?
in fact windows would run A LOT slower on the xbox and eats up a lot more space too.

you never tried linux on a real pc right? XD
compared to windows it runs much faster and if you want even more speed you can compile from source and optimize everything for your cpu.
then there's memory management. let windows run for 3 days and look at the memory usage. do the same for linux and you'll see there's much more free space.
i like this people who tried one distro on a game console which has somewhat around 42 mb of ram available (64 mb shared with gpu) and then tell everyone that windows runs better on there 3 ghz pc with 1 gb ram

gaming started on the pc, i don't see how it could suck. If games weren't on the pc then they wouldn't be on your precious xbox.

So not using the available memory is better management?
If memory is not needed by an application you may as well use it, then free it up as needed.

"how to port pc games to xbox"
That up there is the question...(if it is possible, i think not.)

games started in arcades, went into "home arcades"(consoles), and now, only since the very late 80's have they been on computers.

This thread has gone way off topic. Who really cares where games began.

Games are great/sucky on both PC and consoles! The things is, they are usually different on the different plattforms, because of the marked, and the hardware. Only xbox can compare to a PC hardware, and thats why games on xbox often look much like pc-games. For example, the gamecube is much more arcade then a xbox, mostly because of the marked, but also because of the hardware used.
Emulating games from a not-100% greatly working linux for a xbox machine, is not to prefer, when you have a computer. It cant possible be better then emulating directly either. 3D games take so much resources from the system, so it has to be greatly ported, before its playable.

As long as anyone can port "3DO-Heroes-III-Of-Might-and-Magic" to the Xbox, then I will get rid of my computer. Are PC Emulators for Xbox fully developed or still under development?

Games began pretty much on the DEC PDP 1 with Spacewar, not quite a PC as you'd think of one. Some of you really need to get to know your gaming history. ;)Fun fact - Even PONG was not technically a videogame (software)but almost entirely ran in hardware.

ummm...ok so in the early 80's I never owned a Commodore Computer that played games???? Or in 1975 (Around) there wasn't PC's that could play Solitaire??
Gaming began on the PC (Though not the PC as you know it today), then evolved to Arcade and home consoles.

Study something before you preach it, dipshit. Gaming started on an Oscilloscope in a college electronics classroom. It was then made into arcade hardware, and quickly moved to home consoles in the late 70's. Gaming didn't make it to PC's until the early to mid 80's. As a matter of fact, PC's weren't really available to the general public until the early to mid 80's...
ANYWAYS gaming started on an oscillioscope then arcade pcb then on to home console variations. PC got gaming LAST.

hey you can port any pc game to the xbox as long as you have the source code to it lol and some programing skills. so saying you cant was dead wrong.

Sorry to update a year-old thread, but it didn't -- the first true game was on an ancient sixties mainframe. Some students were bored at a particular university (can't remember which) and wrote a simple space shooter. However the first
popular game was called "star trek," which came out in the seventies and it, too, was an early mainframe game that was soon banned because so much computing time was lost because of it. There are still some C and BASIC ports of it today if you're interested -- it's pretty addictive.
