Is it possible to use the smartxx lcd with the Xenium?
greengiant
possibly, u need to add a circuit that converts from, spi to parallel. then u can.

I dunno if they'd work together because the OS would need the software to work with it. I dunno if the SmartXX software in Xbmc would play nice with the Xenium to make the LCD work

I can tell you the Xenium DOES have LCD.
BUT, do note the big BUT.

The applications, nor the software, nor the circuit has been publicly made available.
The code is available in XBMC, and its CVS. HAs anyone tested this ? Possibly only Ozxodus and XBMC team, but thats all I know of ppl that may have.
The public bios does not have any support, only internal test versions do.

The hardware:
The SPI while great in that it can do so much with only 3 wires, also creates problems when it comes to being cost effective. By default, this SPI limits us to only CrystalFont LCD's (and any other lcd that has SPI directly). A circuit is needed using an IC to convert from SPI to Parallel in order to use the cheap LCD's available everywhere.
Ozxodus IS going to be making (possibly release as well) this circuit. Others will as well, myself included.

So in time, the Xen will have an LCD. It is really only a matter of how interested the community and Ozxodus is to do this.
Right now, if the people wanted LCD that much Iam sure someone or some ppl would write the code, and also make the circuit and use cheap LCD's. Its only a matter of time.

I have been given the privelage of being sent a SPI lcd for testing and some code as well, and look VERY much to integrating the Xen LCD into all the apps and such that have Smartxx LCD.

The OS needs to support the LCD...hopefully it will be pushed into OS 2.0
greengiant
It be nice for the OS to support the LCD.
But the OS does not need to support the LCD in order for other apps to use it.
