As shown on the xbox-scene front page, the neo group is trying to find the xbox private key. This will allow the running of programs on un-modded machines. All you have to do is install a program on your computer that runs behind the scene if you wish it so. The program can be set to use ONLY the amount of cpu power that your computer isn't using! So basically, no slowdown in computer power for you. I set it to use 100% of my unused cpu power. Let's all unite together in this and give something back to the scene. Let's show MS that it can NOT stand in our way! Tell everyone you know about this. Install it on your friends pc's, at libraries and anywhere else you want! there's an option for it to run hidden.
Download the program here:
http://downloads.xbox-scene.net/Templates/.../neo600full.zipOnce you run it, in a drop down menu at the bottom, choose "xbox public key challenge".
Show me and everyone else what you've got! I want every one of you to do this. I'm sure you will. Good luck to all. Let us pray that this will happen. It's time once again for us to assert our power. MS had gained the upperhand with XBOX LIVE, but let's show it that we don't need modchips to use their service. Power to the People!
Peace

Also, as a reminder. There is a $100,000 reward. 80% of it will go to a charity of your choice if your computer is the one to crack it. You will get $10,000. And Neo group will get $10,000 for hardware upgrades. Your favourite charity will get $80,000! This money will benefit your charity. It is for a good cause both personally, and as a group.
I am honestly serious about this post, and don't want any criticism of it. Many people are going to say it can't be done because it will take so much time, but if we all unite as one and spread the word, I am POSITIVE we can do it!

Don't forget about the consequences of doing this......more lazy butt noobs......
I personally think this will do more harm than good to the scene.....please just think about it.....Im not saying do or don't do it. Just think about it before just doing it

no, you can't get a class lower than matrix noobies. but in any case, i wouldn't mind the n00bs ONE BIT if they helped out with this! i think help with this would be easier than help with matrix anyways.

ive got it running its doesnt take up any unesscerrary space of the taskbar and no computer slowdowns. but i have one question im not the only user of my pc so when i log off and some else logs on under a differant account in winXP will neo still be running?

IF your account is logged in, yes. goto: www.theneoproject.com.
somewhere on the right it mentions how to run the program as a system service. doing that will make sure it always runs no matter who is using the pc.

i have it set up on all my home pc's under invisible mode.

I'd like to help but none of the links you gave work and the neo site is down? Any ideas?
Nevermind, it's back up now!

you can digitally sign your own progs./games. meaning backups on xbox live without a modchip.
as for a link, here's one i made with an instruction manual.

Well I would be wagering that it probably fizzled out seeing how it's been 5 years and nothing is still active.

Yeah, bummer. I would've participated too. I wonder how close they got.

You know how in the movie "Office Space" Michael Bolton put a decimal in the wrong place....
Ya well theneoproject did the same thing, except the other way... turns out they were gonna have to also come in on Sunday.....as this would take longer than initially anticipated.
(in the order of thousands of years)

So, it would've taken thousands of years to crack the code?

Well I haven't recently done the math, but at the time it was estimated that if every computer that existed on the planet at the time were to be run 100% dedicated to cracking the 2048bit RSA, it would take well beyond our lifespan before we brute forced the private key. Of course this didn't take into account increases in processing ability, more computers etc... Other ways of shortcutting the decryption were found that made the neoproject pointless as it used a fairly archaic way of deciphering( it basically just created a key and tried it, then moved onto the next one and tried that....etc). Instead of rewriting the decryption code, there were greater advances made in modchips and softmods that made this an unnecessary endeavour.

Oh. Oh well, at least we have
something.

Screw that, it would probably be easier to hack into IBM's supercomputer and have
IT crack the code.
Lets get started on that project. Any takers?
lol jkjk
but really, too bad this fizzled. Home PCs are a lot more spunky on average and commonly have dual core processors and such. Maybe it would only take 500 years instead

Hmmmmm...
or maybe not - at least not using brute force searching.
