-----------
XBMC do have ifo parsing so playing img files etc should be working, but if you want to have the dvd menu please use the MSDash (remote needed) or DVDx2 (dongel free).

how does one specify the msdash as dvd player in the xboxmediacenter.xml file?

Edit this part of the XboxMediaCenter.xml to point to your msdash file:

<!-- fill in path&filename of external DVD player-->
<!-- if empty, XBMC will play any DVD's by itself-->
<dvdplayer>F:\Apps\DVDX\default.xbe</dvdplayer>

i did that but do not get dvd menus, despite having a complete dvd structure in a VIDEO_TS folder on the xbox hd. Anyway, my impression was that the default dvd player was mplayer.

How do i specify the ms dvd player? do i point it to the xboxdash?

Try this <dvdplayer>c:\xboxdash.xbe</dvdplayer>

yes, or alternatively use thc, its multiregion "out the box" which isn't the case with xboxdash.xbe, unless you patch it- dunno if thats an issue for you

also both thc and xboxdash do require the dvd remote to work- bear that in mind- dvd-regionx is the only option for full menu support and no remote

i tried dvdremote but it will not play files off the hd. likewise for xboxdash.xbe.

i need something that will reconstruct menus from files stored on the hd.
