I was just wondering if emulation can in ANY way mess up your xbox. I believe the whole point of emulation is to make the xbox think it is another console that way making it able to play the games of that system.
So that makes me think that it could be potentially harmful to your xbox?

No. When your xbox runs an emulation program, it is doing JUST that, running a program. Essentially the xbox is just a computer that runs primarily gaming programs. When you modify it, you are simply allowing it to do more kinds of programs. The original MS bios tells the xbox what it can and can't do, very similar to a parent telling a child what it can and can't do. Forgive the analogy, but a child is fully capable of jumping on the bed but the parent tells the child that it is not allowed to. When you put a modchip in your xbox and flash the bios, that new bios basically tells the xbox that is is now allowed to do whatever the hell it wants.
So to answer your question: No. emulation cannot harm your xbox in anyway because it was always able to do it in the first place, it just wasn't allowed to.

Analogy forgiven. But it makes it sound like it could be harmful. Letting a child do whatever they hell he wants for an hour can be disasterous.

Yes it can, after running some emulators my xbox became quite unstable
and eventually it got pretty dangerous to be around.

An emulator doesn't trick the Xbox into thinking it's something else, but it 'tricks' the game into thinking it's something else. Like a wolf in sheeps clothing. The wolf has no misconceptions about what it is, but watch out sheep.
All the emulator does is recieve the request that the game is asking for (such as graphics chip in super nintendo) and give it the equivalent of the system (such as the graphics chip in the xbox).
It's no danger what-so-ever.
I would think the bigger danger comes from the user being clumsy and copying over some crucial files with a emulators files. The main thing is that if you dont feel comfortable modding and installing onto your xbox, DONT (get someone else to do it).
Keep in mind though, that on the software side of things, you can ALLWAYS fix things. If you flash ur bios wrong it depends on your hardware but you'd have to really be out of it to overwrite crucial Xbox files with secondary apps (secondary as in not needed to be on c:).

Emulators can kill anyone they want! Emulators cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it.
These emu's are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time.
I heard that there was this Emulator who was emulating at a diner.
And when some dude spoke about roms the Emulator killed the whole town.
My friend Mark said that he saw an Emulator totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window.

Yeah, seriously. I'm starting to think that I'm more into rounding out my collection than actually playing it. And for that very reason I started a game on Secret of Mana. GOD, that game kicks ass!!!

modchips are only good if you go on live, otherwise tsop flashing is definitely the way to go.
anyway, only 'harm' emulation brings to your x is that it fills it with 10x more fun. playing games like sonic series, mega man x series and alpha 3 is way beyond awesome! and for an add type gamer like myself you always need games to jump around...i think that's kinda bad though. i can't even play through one freakin game anymore, i always have to jump to another and another and another. sometimes i don't have the patience to even complete one match in fifa

I have that same problem, my xbox has I guess over 15,000 games of one sort or another if not more on it, If I'm playing a game and it becomes boring for even one second and bam, IGR, it's too easy, I'm too lazy to even select return to dashboard in emus anymore. I think I would play games longer if I actually had to get up off the couch and walk over to the xbox to play a different game. As for those twisted ninja emualtion xboxes, they murdered my entire family and I'm out for revenge, I'll show them what happens when they reroute low level hardware calls.

and don't remind me about those ninja clan of mutant xboxes, they almost killed my xbox, drained it's electricity, massacered the case and then corrupted it's TSOP bios. Even when i put in a new harddrive to erase those memorys, the xbox turns on at night and starts screaming!!!!!!!
