I got my Xbox over the weekend just to do the type of stuff that I've seen from the mod community. I purchased a Xecuter 2.3Lite+ modchip and installed it last night. While installing it, I also popped in a virgin 120GB Maxtor HD. Now here's my problem.

I obviously don't have anything on the HD so I didn't exepct anything to work. I got my Cromwell FlashBIOS and Flashed it with X2.4983 BIOS and from there I was good. Then came time to install everything. Being a complete noob at this I went with Firefucker's EvoX 0.92 X-Disk.

Maybe before I go on I should explain what my goals are. What I want my Xbox to be is something like this. When the modchip is off it should boot into the MS Dash. I should be able to play retail games perfectly, use Live, and everything should be normal. When the modchip is enabled it should boot into Evolution-X and have all my movies and apps there (I really don't want to bootleg games, I just want ed a media player).

I tried first to install the original MS Dash in C: using the Install MS Dash feature of Firefucker. It said it installed fine. I ejected the disc and turned off my Xbox. With the modchip enabled I was able to get into the MS Dash fine and everything looked good. I turned it off and disabled the modchip. No when I turn it on I get a FRAG on the eject button and I get the call customer service screen.

Next up, some more reading. From what I could understand, I needed to flash my BIOS with a G* bios of the FC type if I had a drive larger than 8gb but still wanted to use Live. So I flashed the BIOS, restarted. Again everything worked with the modchip enabled (except now my Xbox intro screen is blue - I guess this is a good way to remind you that the mod is enabled), but the xbox still doesn't work with the modchip off.

What can I do? I've tried to be as prepared as I could and stuffed as much detail as possible in here to aid in future search for other members. Please help me out.
