What do you mean by "peach then a hand holding a cd"?

What's the extension of the file? .mpg? What happens when you try to play it in XBMC? What build of XBMC are you using?

I had a problem like that with a HDTV transport stream (files with a .ts extension, you don't see too much content like this on the net yet). Anyhow XBMC didn't like it but the surprising thing is that it played flawlessly in XBMP (renamed with .mpg). This was about a month ago so it could be that the build I had didn't support it - I'll try again with a current build.

Is the movie on a cd-r ?

If so, it is most likly as xbox hardware issue as the dvd-rom may not read all cd-r media.

Try it on a cd-rw or on a dvd and hopefully you will get better results.
