When flashing the Chameleon in 'mode 4', I get the folowing message after pressing 'Y':

Manufacturers ID 09 Device ID 00
Flash Type Winbond - W49F020T
Erasing.

The Xbox hangs after that.

I've put the folowing lines in evox.ini:

ROM = "X2 4983.06 BFM",0x237709D29C81CEC1488EC0CB8F0F9704
ROM = "X2 4983.67 BFM",0xC7D64B0ADC2C934705F8FC8EB5D7EB22

Flash = 0x015b,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000
Flash = 0x01da,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000

...

Section "Chameleon Mode 4",ID_Chameleon_Mode_4
{
Line "Mode 4 (2x256k + 1x512k)"
Item "Switch To TSOP (Disable Chameleon)",ID_Chameleon_Release_D0,ID_Full_Reboot
Item "Switch To Bank 0",ID_Chameleon_Bank_0,ID_Full_Reboot
Item "Switch To Bank 2",ID_Chameleon_Bank_2,ID_Full_Reboot
Line "-=*-*=-"
Item "Flash Bank 0",ID_Chameleon_Bank_0,ID_Flash_Bios
Item "Flash Bank 2",ID_Chameleon_Bank_2,ID_Flash_Bios
}

I can boot to bank 0 or 2 (it shows in under the system section) and I can disable the Chameleon. Evox.ini seems to be set up ok and stuff...

I'm trying to flash the X2 4983.06 in bank 2. Can it be a problem that the bios file is 256k and the bank being 512k?
(what is the difference between X2 4983.06 and X2 4983.67?)

Why is it showing a Winbond - W49F020T bios? I thought it should be a AMD one... I'm using EvoX 3935.

Thanx for any help.
Ian.

Hi there

I cant be arsed to look up all those details, however if you are in the UK and want the chip programmed. I have a programmer and will happily flash it for free (execept postage)

Drop me a line

Cheers

ok you can only flash a 512k bios in bank one to take bank one and two up and must have all points to the chip connected like e+p also the chip needs to be in mode four for this to work but if its just a 256k biosjust flash bank 0 then bank one

Well, I've got it working now...
I now only have the two flash='' lines in Evox ini and than it recognised the right flash chip. I flashed a 256k bios (X2 4983.06) in bank 2 which is 512k, but I can boot from it via Evox. Also I do not have soldered the E and P points. I can boot to the original BIOS using the Evox menu.

Thanx,
Ian.
