Full Version: Error 7 Before Tsop Flash....

Josef 1975
well, yesterday I opened a NEW xbox (the console has never been powered on) and soldered usually places (it's an 1.2/1.3 with 256k winbond tsop) but on first power-on I got error 7.... it should be an "hdd timeout", so hdd is broken? unluckly I didn't test console before open it, so maybe the hdd was broken first (I have modded lots of xbox before this....)
so I can't return to MS this console becose of it's open and soldered, even if I didn't make any mistake..... but I have another original hdd (rescued from another console witch has m/b damaged) so if I try to swap it with my dead hdd?
I'm afraid that on original xbox (not modified yet) the console won't recognise new hdd (it will have different key I suppose...)
any suggestion? I'd like to mod. this console using the rescued hdd....

thank you for any suggestions!!!!!

make sure yo uplugged the IDE cable firmly back into the HD and thay you didnt change any of the jumper settings

you might have to get a modchip to do an HD swap (you can always remove the chip and flash the TSOP later, so you can just borrow a chip)

the hdd seems to be plugged correctly....
if I get a modchip of course I can swap the hdd, format it and put slayer or other stuff but when I remove the mod the xbox become unmodded, so the new hdd will not be recognise again... or I have to "sign" new hdd with keys stored on eeprom on xbox?

just lock it with config magic and youll be able to take the chip out
Josef 1975
hmmm.... but all original hdd are locked, or not? if I take the hdd from another original console, then the disk will be locked.... but if I try to swap hdd from two original xbox they doesn't work, right? isn''t there a special "key" wich is different for every hdd? if not, I can swap hdd immediately without modchip......

yeah, every xbox has different HD key
Josef 1975
ok... so I put the mod on the xbox, put the new hdd from other console, unlock it, re-lock it and at this point it will work fine even if I remove the chip... right?

and if on new hdd I have also installed slayer, how can I rebuild "original" hdd content? (becose while console is not modded, after removed modchip and before tsop flash, I need the hdd original....)

thank you for your patience!! wink.gif

this leads me to wonder if I could chip a box, flash the tsop, remove the chip and the resulting box would be modded... right???

its not that simpe, you have to boot formt eh TSOP in order to flash it, so youll have to disable the chip, boot the xbox, then use an exploit to flash the TSOP

however the chip can be useful in copying (FTP) an exploit to the xbox
hai_ok
then I am better off, if I just solder the points on the motherboard and use an exploit.

I don't think the chip would bridge those soldering points on the motherboard (that allow you to flash) so the chip wouldn't help me, really.

I can already use the action replay to copy the exploit game saves over to the box and set up ftp.

does this make sence?
lordvader129
yeah, sounds good, although some people have problem with AR for exploits, if you get error 21 tryign to laod the save just your modchip to load evox and FTP the save

thanks Lord Vader.

btw

Are you like version 1.29 of Vader, or are you like clone number 129?

not that it makes a difference. You still kick ass!

hmm, never though about that, 129 is just the number i threw on the end of my name back in '97 when i made my first aol account (yeah, i admit, i was young, and wreckless) and all the good names were taken, ever since then ive always had 129 at the end of my names (personal significance = birthday = december 9th = 12-9 = 129) lame, isnt it? lol
