This is my first post so please be kind.
I have an Aladdin Advance Plus in a v1.0 xbox. I installed the modchip and everything was working fine. I decided to use UnleashX as the dashboard. I installed it and tried playing a game. After playing for a little while I tried to use IGR to get back to my dashboard. It did not work. According to the place I bought the modchip IGR was a feature. The Evox M7 bios is installed on the chip. Is this feature only available in EvolutionX only with this modchip?
That brings me to my next question. If IGR is available only with EvolutionX or a X2 bios, then I need to flash my bios to use IGR with UnleashX. However I cannot enable the modchip for writing. The aladdin directions say:
"Power up from "STANDBY" with the "POWER" button (press it 5 second) until the LED flickers quickly. Power up from "STANDBY" with the "POWER" button (press it 5 second) until the LED flickers quickly."
When I hold the power button down the led never flashes, and UnleashX reports a protected bios. I beleive I have everything soldered correctly because I am able to disable and enable the modchip with the power button and the led changes color.
Any help would be appreciated.

I was actually able to flash the bios last night. It seems that the mod chip is somehow always write enabled. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. I flashed it with the lastes x2 bios 4983. The chip flashed fine, however Crimson Skies no longer launches from UnleashX. Any ideas?
I tried other game such as Halo and NBA Street, and they work fine. Also Crimson Skies launched from UnleashX with the Evox M7 bios installed, but with that there is no IGR. Do I have any other options?

My Aladdin "looks" like an Aladdin 64 and therefore I expected the various light sequences from the LED to tell me whether it is flash enabled or not. It is clearly marked Aladdin Advance, and has the socketed sst chip. However, it seems permanently open to flashing, as I have flashed it with Evox and with XFlashv2 successfully - irrespective of what LED lights are showing.
I suspect you have the same config - no problem, just be aware it is *not* protected (UnleashX reports mine as such when I know it is not) and act accordingly.
Once you have 4983 installed, you shouldn't have to flash again anyway, as I believe this will be the last 256k bios we get from Xecuter now that the X3 is in production.
edit: no explanation for yr Crimson Skies problems. When I used M7, I had all sorts of nightmare issues loading original games such as Halo which disappeared when I loaded 4983. Hope you get it sorted, because I firmly believe 4983 is the last good bios we will get for the Aladdin series.

Thanks for info on the Aladdin Advance. It's good to know that it is operating the same as everyone else's.
About Crimson Skies, does it have anything to do with Live, and the fact that X2 does not allow Live? I have tried 4977, 4981, and 4983 none of which work with Crimson Skies launched from UnleashX.
