ok i have a 92 mazda protoge, for a month or so now, the hand brake light was constantly on(even when teh brake was down, btw teh brake worked fine) n now the brake is totaly gone, like when u pull it it goes all the way up(with no resistance) n dosnt do ne thing, in other words the brake handle is totaly poitnless. so i gave it to the shop, n they are like yeah some wire is broken, n it will cost 150 to fix it:|, so if ne oneknows how to fix that w/o spendin 150 on it, pls lemme know. thx alot

it is actually something easy to do, but you have to remember you are fooling round with your braking system. If you don't have any experiance with brakes then i wouldn't mess with it. But if you want to know how to do them pm me.

i'm guessing you went to a bigger shop too?

if you want i'd try a local guy and see if they'll do it since you know the problem

i usually go to my local midas (i know the guys) and they'll wheel and deal for my business.

also if you buy the part yourself and have them put it on you'll save

Really? Dont know what its like where you live, but i own a garage in england and can supply a part to a customer cheaper than they can buy it for and still make a reasonable profit! Garages frequently charge more for labour to fit a customer supplied part as they are losing out on the profit on the part otherwise! wink.gif get quotes both ways and go for whichever way is cheapest!
