hey guys, i need help, i have all the evox crap on my hard drive, which ones do i take out? i can leave my backed up games on therere on F right? SORTA new at this xbox live stuff. So, i have the xecuter 2.3b lite and i want to play live, i got the ethernet wires and everything, i connect it to the router and how do i turn off the modchip? ive got the external switch and there are 3 tabs that i need to move, i dont know which to go with what. and i also dont know how to lock the hard drive, or disable the modchip, or make sure the xbox dash is loaded. thanks

first delete everything that's not supposed to be in the c drive like evox for example. As far as it's concerned now with the banning i'm not sure what's safe and what's not. You should delete all the save games that shouldn't be there. i'm not sure about backedup games though. One of the switches on the x2.3b lite should be the off switch so remember to switch that off. Use configmagic to lock your hdd.

i JUST deleted the evox files, and i have 1 first switch that is to the left, and the other two are to the right, the little bulb is green, loaded up the xbox dash, but when it loads up, it is green and says Xecuter 2 at the bottom, does that mean i forgot to delete something!?!? and also, shouldnt it be red? thanks i need lots of help

oh and i just looked at my memory, and alot of stuff was there, avalaunche save files, and unleash files, and some apps, and some game memories, luckily i disabled xbox live sign in auto

If it says xecuter on the bottom then the chip is still booting the hacked bios. I'm not sure what you mean by it being red.

ok nvm about the red, but the modchip is off, and i get an "your xbox needs service"
the guy who i bought the modchip from said that my hard drive was unlocekd so i need to make a boot disc for evox and everything and get the hard drive to be locked

Hello does it goe to play if you have only soft modded you xbox..That will say that i dont use a chip but a only software on the xbox..Do you get banned from xbox live then...Pleas answer if allredy even ansewrd or tell me wherer to find more help Thanks

I am trying to connect to live.. i have a matrix modchip.... when i hit the eject button to disable, it does and reboots, it says cannot connect to live - then goes to the troubleshooting. Badmongo: I've been toying with softmods on Live for a while now. The only problem with it that I have found that is not applicable to mod chips is the exploited dash (assuming you're using one of the many fonts exploits). Angerwound posted this a while back http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=292191&st=0 which may suggest that MS could be checksumming certain files to counteract the problem. They may or may not be doing this. Many of the people who claim that MS is scanning hard drives for improper code made other mistakes in the live process. In this post: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...c=305025&st=390 Digital Marine says that he has been able to play on live using the live tab exploit, but leaving all his programs and other files on the drive. So if MS is scanning at all, they are certainly not scanning all of it. The only problem I see is if it validated the dasboard or something. I have yet to be able to test this myself, so its all heresay at this point. But within the next week i will have access to a live account i can use and will keep everyone posted. Anyone else try any softmods on live already and want to share your stories?

...uhh...i hav evox...well im goin to get it...and i dunno if it can work on xbox live...my xbox will be if u press and hold the power button then evox will start up...but if u just press the button then the reg xbox screen will pop up...will that mean evox isnt on...does that mean i can play live

Hello dudes. I've an X with X2 Pro, 4978, and an upgraded HD locked.

I hadn't yet "buy" live!. but my xbox is always conected to internet. I've tested yesterday the locked hd, running original dash (using xboxdash.xbe con c:\, and other time disabling X2, and powering on).
The dashboard worked ok, but i dunno if it has connected to live... and i could be banned.. or whatever.

is it possible without having an account?? would have i problems if now i buy live, and try to use? i wouldn't want to waste 60 $

Now my #2 problem. I cant use trainers while running off my hd :S I've reset all my cache by deleting the xyz drives... i turn it on save and exit run the cd... and it doesn't work :S

Some games automatically try to connect to Xbox Live whether you want them to or not.

I got banned because I started to play a game on my HDD and it automatically connected to Live. I saw what it was doing but couldn't get to the Xbox fast enough to turn it off and prevent the connection. I was banned immeadiately.

I read all the forums that I could find on modding, and using Live with a modded Xbox, before I modded mine and never saw a post saying that it would be best to disconnect your Xbox from the internet BEFORE playing a game on your HDD.

My recommendation is that you disconnect the internet feed from your xbox before EVER playing a game on your HDD to make sure that it is impossible for your modded Xbox to connect to Live without your express desire for it to connect. If I would have just done that, I could still play on Live if I wanted to.

On another note. I phoned the (800) 4my-xbox number and after a long discussion they told me that my Xbox SERIAL number was banned permanately and that my Xbox would never be allowed on their service again. (Anybody want to buy my Live Starter Kit w/Crimson Skies HRTR?)

heh, all you gotta do is change the serial number, get a vigin eeprom and a new stock HD and youll be good to go

BTW, games only log in to Live automatically if autologin is enabled or your ingmae profile is the same as your gamertag (IE gamertag:markccalhoun, player profile:markccalhoun)

I was banned a few days ago. So all I have to do is flash a new EEprom or are there any other steps.

So if you can't get on XBL with modded content then how do all these halo 2 modders get to play alot I have played with alot of them on XBL how do they do it WITHOUT GETTING BANNED?

no, because MS liekly has a list of all valid eeproms on their server, a generatd eeprom wouldnt be on the ist and thus wont work

WAIT ! a long time ago I tried to connect to live - via 2 month free trial, but the trial had expired so I was never able to connect....so does that still classify as "vigin" or will I get busted?

What if I used an eeprom sold to me, and then the seller sold it twice, would the first to use it be ok - or would we both be busted?

Can I use my old eprom? Where do I get another eprom if I dont?

some kid i know got on live with a softmod running backups off his HD. He said soemthign about how him and his friends hacked the bios or somethign and managed to get on without being detected or banned.

this was possible for about a month when softmods first came out (like june of 02 or so) but them MS updated the dashbaord making it pretty much impossible

its also possible he did get himself banned and it just hasnt kicked in yet


but more than likely hes just lying, its always boggled me, why people need attention so bad theyll come up with these impossible claims

Are eproms version specific, ie a 1.6 eprom will only work on a 1.6, or can a 1.2 eprom work on a 1.6, or can a 1.6 eprom work on a 1.5, etc

Again sorry for the dumb question, just needed to know...

Ok, great topic but I have one question. It's probably already been answered but I don't have the time to read through all 26 pages of this topic. I've already got an Xbox Live account, if I get a Harddrive for my Xbox and "lock" it I can still play right? I heard that you have to get your Xbox live account AFTER you install your hard drive, is that true? Also, one last question. Can all hard drives be "locked"?

no, once you have been on Live you can not upgrade or change your HD without also getting a new eeprom (read marriage theory 101)

not all HDs can be locked, but most can, look in the gen hardware forum for a list of known lockable hard drives

I keep hearing "coldboot" a lot, but I can never seem to get the idea of what it is. What does that mean

Cold boot means that you

1. Turn on your Xbox ,Put in an original game(no backups) in the Drive
2. Turn off your xbox
3. Turn the Xbox back on

You have successfully done a cold boot and now can go on Xbox live

I've just tryed a cold boot and I keep getting error 21. (My XboX is softmodded)
As far as I can remember, I've never tryed to connect to XboX Live before but I only got the original game now, before that I was playing a backup...

This error sometimes occurs when your stock dash is missing some of its parts. You might need to try reinstalling the original dash from a slayer cd. Also playing on live with a nonstock bios running is the easiest way to get banned, if your are running any new bios then your should be fine since all the popular ones are now live blocking. So error

21 has nothing to do with a live ban, but once you get back to the original dash then you can see if you are banned. But is you havent gone on live with your hacked bios running you should be fine.

Are there new ways M$ is banning...what is the new updated requirements before going on live?

My xbox is modded with the X3 chip and the X3 bios programmed not to allow xbox live login when the modchip is on and a 200GB HDD locked with configmagic. EvoX installed with Slayer's 2.7. I went online with Halo 2 from an original disc with the mod off and a week later I get the xbox has been modified error and cannot connect to XBL. Never have I logged on live with the modchip on. My live account is password protected. Please help me understand what happened.

What were the cause of my ban? What can I do to get back on live? Do I really need a new HDD in addition to the unbanned EEPROM? Thanks in advance!
