Follow this tutorial if you like.
"HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR XBOX HARDDRIVE"
This tutorial is just another way to upgrade your xbox harddrive. This method shows you how to format a new
harddrive staright out the box. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO FORMAT A NEW HARDDRIVE. You can go to
www.xbox-scene.com/tutorial.php for other tutorials on formatting a new harddrive. Ok now you need a few things:
= Craxtion
= EvolutionX New HD Setup v1.4
= Evox 3935
= Modded Xbox
Now first of all you need to boot your xbox with the Evox CD and go to "System Utilities" and then go to
"Backup". Okay now ftp your "C" and "E" from your xbox and put it somewhere in your PC. Now open EvolutionX 3935 and
edit your "evox.ini" file. Down the bottom of the ".ini" file under "[Menu]" type the following:
Section "Root"
{
Item "Prepare HD",@210
Section "Format Options"
{
Item "Format only C: Partition",@213
Item "Format only E: Partition",@214
Item "Format only F: Partition",@215

Now save the changes you made in the ".ini" file. Ok now in your "Evox 3935" folder create 2 new folders name one
"cdrive" and the other "edrive". Now copy the "evox.ini" and the "evoxdash.xbe" files to the "cdrive". In your "Evox 3935"
folder rename the file called "evoxdash.xbe" into "Default.xbe". You don't have rename the "evoxdash.xbe" in your "cdrive"
folder only the one in your "Evox 3935" folder Now since you have a backup of your "C\" drive of your xbox hdd in your PC,
transfer all the contents of your "C\" drive to newly created folder called "cdrive". And then transfer all the contents of
your "E\" drive to the newly created folder called "edrive". Now open your EvolutionX New HD Setup v1.4 and there should be
a file called "hd.bin". Grab that file and put in the "Evox 3935" folder. Now use Craxtion and convert the "Evox 3935" folder
to an XISO and burn onto a CD-RW or DVD-R (the evox 3935 folder should now have around 188MB). Now open your xbox and stick
in a brand new harddrive. After putting your xbox together run the CD you just made and select "Prepare NewHD" when done
formatting you have to lock your harddrive. And that's it!!!!
NOTE: You can actually install any dashboard you want in your xbox hd. All you have to do is put the dashboard you like to
use in the "cdrive" folder and it's as simple as that. You can also add any apps you like to go with your dashboard
like Congfigmagic Final or DVD2XBOX or whatever apps you desire. Just put apps you want in the "edrive" folder.
NOTE: You can go to www.eurasia.nu/index.php to get the apps mentioned in this tutorial
Note: This can also be used as an Auto-installer very similar to Slayer's

Try Quix or a different burning application. What dvd drive do you have? I would use the DVD+RW/-RW so you don't waste money.

Did you try a slayers disc?
If the original disc you installed isnt working at all, uhm, I know this sounds retarded...but did you flip the chip to disabled by accident?
You'd be getting that screen if you did because it's trying to load a retail bios and not the hacked one that reads the xiso. Just a suggestion, might wanna check that.
Could be something simple like that for why it wont read the discs.
If you are getting an error 13 though you may have messed up the xboxdash.xbe that was in there to load your retail dashboard.
I'd figure out why your disc isnt working first then reload the hd.
Try checking the switch, it could be that.

yes, i checked the switches long time ago

Well then I re-read your original post. You put the new 160 drive in your xbox and it was EMPTY right?
Try a different boot disk like the Slayers 2.5 disc and see if it works. It should. For whatever reason your xbox isnt loading the discs in the dvd. Burn a slayers disc on media that you know works everytime and try that with the 160 installed.
Should work.

i d-led slayers, and i see its a .htm file, how do i go about burning this, i checked through the tutorials, but didnt see anything, is there another link somewhere with a tutorial? or do i just burn that file as an image?
also would there be a reason that the slayers disk would work and not the original evoX cd that i burned?
o and thanks for reading, for real, its nice to have someone actually read and offer help, haha thanks

Slayers should be a ~100mb ISO file (or RAR archive with ISO inside)

Why would you need to backup C and E if its a brand new hard drive? Isint that already on your old original drive? Yes, I know its good to back up if your using the original hard drive but your installing a brand new one so whats the point?

is the new drive set for cable select?
you should be able to boot to an evox disc that you used previously with a blank hard drive, as long as it's set to cable select and has power and stuff

So you can copy all the files back to your new HD after you have installed it - that way it will be identical to your old HD (except for the additional space and other software).
The C: partition backup will ensure you have the same version of the MS system files and the E: partition backup contains all your gamesaves/profiles and music.

I know what it is. I just had the same thing happen to me. When you ftp to your xbox and backed up you c-e drive you put them in a folder. You can't put your c: and e: in a folder in a folder. When you click on you c: on your xbox you should see all your stuff not a c: folder you get me? You don't need to ftp everything back to your xbox all you need to do is move it all over. Hold down ctrl click all the files then right click and move a window will open might look like this /C/c/C/ make it look like this /C/ and your good to go. Hope that helps.

ahh i dont think that helps me, i tried slayers disk, and i ahve to say, it did seem to take a little bit longer for the error 13 to come up, i swtiched over to bank2 or whatever and it sees the samsung drive and all, im thinking that maybe i could put a different bios on the other bank, i have 4981.06 on the other, maybe try another one like the evoX one or something

just to let ya know, i did burn the slayers disk correctly cause i put the original hdd in my box, and i can boot the disk then, so im pretty much stumped big time, like i said before someone told me that sometimes a xbox wont load unless both the dvd drive and hdd are set up and shit, so i may have to just try and find someone else with a modded xbox and then set up the hdd on that, then put it in this xbox and it should work
that guy said it was rare, but has happened to him before
