I have a NEC DVD+RW (+ ONLY) ND-1100A in my computer. What Dvd Drive will work in my box to make it read DVD+R discs? What are good +r discs to use?

Thomson works with DVD+R and DVD+RW (this what I have)
Philips works with DVD+R but struggles with DVD+RW (or DVD-RW)
Samsung I not sure. Some people have no problems with DVD+R and DVD+RW, other have reported problems with DVD+R.
I use Ritek/Ricoh/Mitsubishi DVD+R media in my xbox. I've never had a single problem.

Any PC-DVDROM will read DVD's of any type for this is the way to go if you plan on using backup discs. If installed you open the possibility to using CD-R's and burning at MAX. I currently use Fuji and Memorex and Maxwell DVD+R and have no problem with them. I burn at 2.4x (soon 4x) when they decied to release the damn firmware upgrade.

I would never dream of putting a PC DVD-ROM in myself. If I bought a new original and wanted to back it up, I'd have to crack open my Xbox and swap the DVD-ROM just to do it. The Hell with that. Plenty of people here burn DVD±R/RW with great success; a DVD-ROM drive swap is not necessary unless you need to be able to read everything (CD-R/RW, DVD±R/RW) burned at lightspeed.

Just about all DVD drive play DVD+R.
A large percentage of set top DVD players can play DVD+R.
All xbox drives can play DVD+R, but some people with the samsung drive have had problems.
