Are these any good? I mean would it be a good idea to purchase a chip for a v1.0 xbox that has this adapter included or stick to the old soldering gun. I mean there has to be a reason why some people still go through the trouble of soldering these things on.(advantages vs disadvantages) Please help this noob once again before I make my first purchase. thanks for all the help.

Soldering is always the way to go IMHO. By doing a good joint to begin with, you don't have to worry about your adapter coming loose or realigning it later on. Overall, it's a more "secure" connection IMHO. smile.gif

well... he has a point... here is IMO

if you are not going to be moving the box around (like I take mine to work on saturdays to kill time...) and its not going to get bumped around then yeah you can get solderless litterally just a few seconds to set up.. BUT if you take yours here there and everywhere (frankly I take it home during christmas too) THEN i would solder it up. even if you arent the greatest you can find people to help you out. smile.gif

Thanks for the info. I'm still not sure which chip I have to get. I'm pretty positive I have v1.0. Well thanks.
