I have a strange problem...i've burned a cd with mediaplayer 2.1 with avi file, images, music, etc on it. I've inserted the cd in the xbox and after a while the player menu appeared, and everything seemed to work correctly (images are shown ok, music even) but, when i tried to play the avi file (a film) by selecting it in the list, the player shows for a couple of seconds the black screen and after returns me to the videos menu. So, nothing happens and i'm not able to see the film. Can anyone help me? It could depend from the bitrate or from the dimension of the avi file? Do i have to respect some dimensions, framerate compression or...?
Thanx a lot for replies. Please help me :-((((

Install xbmp2.1 on hdd, then burn avi as a normal data disc, 1so9660. Then run it from xbmp2.1 via iso9660..Or save the avi on hdd coz it gets cached there any way from iso9660..

Thanx for the answer but i'm a newbie and i'm still studying on how to place files on the hdd. Is there any solution to play it from the cd?
Anyway thanx again for the fast reply.

There are still issues with .avi media files. Not all .avi are the same you know! Gee wouldn't that be great, but alas they are even more perplexing than DVD regions.

It is highly likely you have an odd format or heavily compressed movie that xbmp just can't read. I have experienced this many times. I'm guessing that you have been able to play some othet .avi movies??

Anyway double check that you can and I highly recommend learning how to ftp to your xbox as this is a really convenient way of tweaking and updating your configurable files. PM me if you have any problems.

Not all avi's playback correctly or at all.
There are lots of options available when making an avi and XBMP has problem playing some...

You could try and re-encode the avi to mpeg or decompress it then re-encode it to avi again.
Avi to Mpeg might be the easiest fix if after all fails to get XBMP to playback the file.
I prefer TMPGEnc Plus: http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html
Good info here on encoding: www.doom9.org

Thanx, but with every format i've tried it gives the same problem. Now i'm trying with the release 2.2 of xbmp: on an italian forum they gave me this suggestion. I hope it works...in any case thanx again.
