Can you give us some more info on your set-up? What dashboard are you using? Are you connecting through a router/hub or is this a direct link between your PC and XBox?

I put an additional network card in my PC and assigned it a static IP.

You only need a crossover cable if you are going to connect directly from your XBox to your PC. If you are going through a router then you do not need a crossover cable. You can buy crossover cables at Best Buy, Office Max, etc... They will be labed as "crossover".

Thnx Jordan_Hounsell because of your tut. i got it networked. Now is the game i have in the drive under the Z drive on the ftp?
Thraxen
Jul 31 2004, 12:15 AM
It should be under the D: drive. Z: is a cache drive.

I Have the Real NFL Fever 2003 in the drive and D: is blank!

Also when im in FlashFXP and i go from Dir to dir it alot of times disconnects? whys this?
Thraxen
Jul 31 2004, 12:33 AM
Well, I booted up Evox on my machine and D: shows up in FlashFXP for me and I can see the games files. So I'm not exactly sure what it wrong with your set-up. Try connecting and then hitting the refresh button at the top of FlashFXP.
I'm not having any disconnect problems.

I tried refreshing...didnt help

Jul 31 2004, 12:51 AM
Hmmm... I'm stuck then. D: shows up for me using both Evox and Avalaunch (my normal dashboard). You could always try using a different FTP program or another dashboard. My X2 chip is set to boot Avalaunch on one bank and Evox on the other.
Also, you could install DVD2Xbox and use that to rip the game to E: or F: on your XBox and then FTP in and get the game from there.

Jul 31 2004, 01:00 AM
Do you have any other applications installed? Put DVD2XBox where they are. I'm not sure how you set up your Evox, but Evox looks in E:\Apps\ and F:\Apps\ by default. So put it into one of those two places. Also, did you put in a bigger hard drive? If you did not, then you will likely have to use E: since F: will have no space unless you had a 10 GB stock hard drive... in which case it might have about 2 GB worth of space.

Jul 31 2004, 01:17 AM
How did you set up your drive? Did you use an install disk like Slayer's? Anyway, check your Evox settings and make sure you have the F: partition enabled. When you FTP in, can you see anything in F:?
AcuraTSX2245
Jul 31 2004, 01:18 AM
F is blank. I just used the OS2 hdd upgrade. did i do somthing wrong?
Thraxen
Jul 31 2004, 01:24 AM
I'm not familiar with OS2. Can you you write anything to F:? Try and FTP anything to F: or right-click when in F: using FlashFXP and select "Make Folder". If it works then your F: partition is probably OK. Also, go into your Evox settings menu and it should tell you how much space is available on F:.

My EvoX is not acting right. I can use it to boot up games. But whenever i try to adjust the clock or anything i get a full green screen error and its all in japenesee. So i cant do that
AcuraTSX2245
Jul 31 2004, 01:26 AM
I just went into the F: Drive and put a folder in there and it worked correctly. Should i format/copy the F: Partition? the OS2 screen gives me the option to do both

When i made that blank folder, as soon as i was done i went back to the main DIR and then there WAS an F: drive and in the F: was the folder that i had just made. Is that normal?
AcuraTSX2245
Jul 31 2004, 01:29 AM
Now in the D: Drive there is a folder that says VIDEO_TS
Thraxen
Jul 31 2004, 01:36 AM
As for setting the clock... try turning off the modchip and booting to the normal XBox dashboard. Set your clock from there. Sometimes the XBox clock can get corrupted or messed up and some applications and games won't behave correctly.
It sounds like your F: is working normally if you were able to make a folder there. Try making a folder called "Apps" and put DVD2Xbox there. Do you know to use XBINS to get software like DVD2XBox?
As for your D: drive... VIDEO_TS is normally a folder on DVD movies. Do you have a movie in your drive now?

Jul 31 2004, 01:49 AM
Now in the X: Drive on Flashfxp i see a bunch of files. Sounds, System, TEMP folders along with the files Alien.ka,atari.wmv,Bot.ka,Human.ka,splash.tga,jugg.ka. When u put a game in the drive what folders do you get?
Thraxen
Jul 31 2004, 02:02 AM
Well, what you see on a game disc depends completely on the game. But make sure you hit Refresh when using FlashFXP. It tends to show you what it last saw in each directory.
X: is normally a cache drive (X, Y, and Z are all cache drives). So a game probably put those files there. Do you happen to have a Halo disc on hand? I have that game and I can tell you what files you should be seeing.
As for how to install DVD2XBox. Just make a folder called DVD2XBox (the folder can actually be named anything) and put all the DVD2Xbox files in there (this includes things like the default.xbe file, dvd2xbox.xml, Media folder, etc...). Now FTP the whole folder into your "Apps" folder on the F: drive. If you don't have an Apps folder then make one. Now reboot your Xbox and go into the Applications menu on Evox and see if the program it's there.
Also, do you know where your Evox is installed? Find your Evox.ini file, FTP it to your PC, and then open it up and scroll to the bottom. See if it has a section similar to this:
| QUOTE |
Section "Launch Menu" { Section "Games" { AutoAddItem "e:\games\" AutoAddItem "f:\games\" SortAll } Section "Apps" { AutoAddItem "e:\apps\" AutoAddItem "f:\apps\" SortAll } } |
That is the default set-up for Evox. That just tells Evox to scan for games and applications in the Games and Apps folder on E: and F:. You can tell where you Evox is looking by finding that section.

Yes, I have the halo disc in the drive now, But like i said i cant do anything in EvoX except boot games due to the green error screen i get. So i cant do that
AcuraTSX2245
Jul 31 2004, 02:13 AM
As far as finding the EvoX file i cannot find it in any of these folders. I think all my problems may be due to an error in my disc drive. before i put the drive in i could use evox. Then i put the drive in and tried to put dvd2xbox and some other appz onto my xbox via a dvd. Then after that ive been getting this error screen and its all in jap so i cant read it. Should i format my partition or copy the partition?

Is it possible to use another dashboard other than EvoX? Because i think that is where my problem is. I can play games but do NOTHING else with EvoX due to this error screen. Any other dashboard possibilities?
Thraxen
Jul 31 2004, 02:28 AM
When you put the Halo disc in the files you should see are: "bink" folder, "maps" folder, "XDemos" folder, and default.xbe file.
So you can't go into any menus in Evox without getting an error screen? That sounds bad. I really don't know what is going on with your XBox then. I don't have any experience with Ice modchips.
The Evox.ini file would likely be in the root of C: or E: drive (most likely C:). I'd think formatting your F: drive will do anything for the errors you are getting. If you can put stuff on F: then it doesn't need to be formatted.
Also, check your personal messages.

My C: Drive is COMPLETELY BLANK! Thats why i thought there was an error with my HDD

Jul 31 2004, 02:56 AM
As far as other dashboards...are there any other posibilities?
Thraxen
Jul 31 2004, 03:06 AM
It sounds like your C: got formatted. That's why you are getting the errors. C: drive contains the original XBox dashboard and all its associated files. This is bad... but fixable. You need to get a copy of the original dashboard again. Slayer's install disk has these files. Or if you have a friend with a modded XBox then you should be able to copy their files.
Yes, there are other dashboards. I use Avalaunch as my primary dashboard, but there is also MXM, UnleashX, and several versions of hacked original XBox dashboards. You can also use XBox Media Center as your dashboard. There are others too, but those are the main dashboards. But none of those will help until you get your C: drive fixed, that's your main problem.

Can u send me your original C drive files by chance? then i can fxp them to my xbox? or is there anywhere i can download them at? I dont know anyone else with a modded system

Do all those listed Dashboards work on v1.6 xbox with ICE? I thought 1.6 could only use certain ones?
