i have a mobo that does the 3 boot then red/green thing. I was thinking there was a way besides a milksop to save this mobo. i also read about the matrix thing. i have a soare cheapmod i can use, i need to see if the mobo will boot the chip still.

Hey, I had this same problem. There is a chance that your tsop chip is having a problem and cannot boot. What I did was install a modchip and take the TSOP chip off completely. If you plan to use this for Live, then you need to solder in another TSOP chip. If not, leave the TSOP chip spot empty and leave your chip installed and on. Hope this helps!

if you have a 1.0 or 1.1 you can try booting from each bank of the TSOP individually (using the 3 wire trick)
otherwise youll have to use a 29-wire mod to repair the TSOP
alternatively you can install an LPC modchip and leave it there

I tried that once, it didnt work, I had to leave the chip there AND remove the tsop... but its worth a try...

Humm... well, I have a 1.0 too which is also fragging. So, I basically just need to use a modchip (x 2.2 pro) and remove the tsop? Cuz right now it keeps fragging with the modchip...
Can I use an xbit?

Hum... just to be sure.... the tsop is the hynix chip... right?

I cant remember what tsop chip I took out, but you are correct.
1) Take out TSOP chip
2) Install modchip and leave it on
There MIGHT be alternative ways to fix this problem so dont jump on it just yet because its not an easy thing to do if your not good at soldering.

But the chip is the Hynix, winbond, St, sharp thing, right? Just don't want to remove something that might still be useful...

If the chip is installed correctly, it should supersede the mobo firmware. Check your D0 first. GOOD GOD, you unsoldered the Bios chip and installed another one...? Jesus christ that crazy

that is crazy as hell man your d0 wasnt on good there is no reason you would need to remove the factory bios chip cuss grounding the d0 disables the onboard chip if done properly
