I was given this xbox (1.0) because the dvd drive didnt work. I replaced the dvd drive and it worked. I then attempted the hot-swap trick to the computer's IDE cable and started backing up UNTIL I heard several loud clicks and then HDD_driver failed. so I rebooted xbox and I got an error (im not sure what error) I then installed a modchip and was able to play games but the default dash didnt load again (same error) Now I've tried every option in slayers auto evox installer (only to find that it doesnt copy too many files not even evoxdash.xbe or xboxdash.xbe to root) and I've used NewHD installer (with backup files from a friends C:\ drive) but I still get error 13. At one time I DID have evox on the drive working. but I tried to replace it with avalanuch and thats how I started getting errors. I've heard of littlesomeone's system recovery..is that available on xbins -- and will it work? Thanks, Tony

factory HD, clicks every now and then, formats fine, saves fine. status is locked but I did have it unlocked for a while.

13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.

I would say that you need to get a new HDD, as the xbox can't find the dashboard and those loud clicking noises were the last breaths of your HDD

Ok, EvoX now boots from HD. BUT I want avalaunch. I've tried to replace the evoxdash.xbe with the avalanuch xbe but it reboots to Cromwell (I guess my xecuter modchip is loading from a diff bank)..How can I put avalaunch on to my HD?
