Is there a way to directly play my movies (avi, Divx, Xvid) on my CD from the Evox without going to XBMC. Or the only way is to make XBMC as my default dashboard?
Thanx for any info or help anyone can provide.

Use XboxMediaCenter Or XboxMediaPlayer As A Dash.

So you are telling that there is no way I can do it straight from Evox.
BTW thanks for the reply.

Correct, there is no way to do it from the dash, unless you can figure out some command line paramater's that can fed to XBMC or XBMP. I don't know if they exist... example if you are feeling bodacious is as follows:
Item "Debbie Does Dallas","e:\xbmc\default.xbe",ID_CMD,"f:\videos\ddd.avi"
Disclaimer:
I don't know if this works, I have never tried it myself, I don't know if it will without testing it.

Im willing to try your suggestion amps but this (Item "Debbie Does Dallas","e:\xbmc\default.xbe",ID_CMD,"f:\videos\ddd.avi") seems to point to an AVI in the hard disk. What I wanted to play is the DVD Drive. Any more ideas or what will I put instead of the F:\videos\ddd.avi.
Thanx again,

A dvd in the drive??? Try using the D:\ddd.avi path, I'm just guessing at this point.

Just a thought, you can leave the DVD in your computer then use a program like ccxstream and share your DVD drive in your computer and then just stream it your xbox.... but I doubt that will work directly from the dashboard, that still requires you to go into XBMC.

Thanx amps,
By summing all of your suggestion, I think that the only way is trough XBMC.
Well thanx very much. May God bless you.

so what you're saying is that i can't play a back up dvd+r on my xbox through evox dashboard?
i just modded my xbox over the weekend, popped in a backup dvd+R movie and went to the lauch dvd on evoX, and nothing happened.

No that's not what I'm saying... I'm saying a DVD BACKUP can be played on the xbox, you mentioned +R backup, does your xbox read +R'S? What he was tring to do was all his backup DVD's that are in .avi .m2v .whatever extension be put onto the dvd and made as a data dvd then played from the dash... that will NOT work.
A true DVD backup will have video_ts and audio_ts folder's with .vob files in the video folder.
Does that make sense to you? The reason like i said your's may not have worked is that you are using a +R media and your dvd drive may not like it.
