Okay, earlier I tried to install the UDE2 to my second xbox, but it kept freezing when it tried to back up the C: drive. It's my fault, the version I had wasn't compatible but I didn't know it at the time. I thought it might be Evox I had installed on C: drive I ran through the mechhack and NK6. So I deleted all the files that I installed earlier including the extra folders putting the C: drive back to exactly the way it looked when was done. The only problem is, I changed the xboxdash.xbe to xboxdash-orig.xbe and transfered a copy of the original to my PC's harddrive. I didn't feel safe about it so I put the file I just transfered right back on my C: drive when it was running fine, but during the course of cleaning the C: drive for UDE2 I deleted the copy(that worked at the time) and changed the original back to it's former name. I cleaned everything, but when I tried to load back to the dashboard I get an error 21 screen and a service notice. I then accidentally lost FTP access to the Xbox trying to fix it and renamed the xboxdash.xbe to evoxdash.xbe but couldn't change it because for some reason my connection through FlashFXP just all of a sudden died and couldn't connect to the xbox anymore. Now if you run the mech exploit with the nkpatch6 on my xbox it tries to run the original dash and that keeps giving me error 21's. I know this sounds reeeeeal stupid, but I made a mistake and knew I made it yet lightning struck me with bad luck the instant I knew I made the mistake so I can't fix it. Can anybody let me know what are my options for fixing it so that I can load my dashboard so I can at least delete the messed up mechassault hack file and install a new one from my memory card for FTP access. I'm scarred of hotswapping and the best option is looking like either getting the thing chipped real cheap or *praying* that I can load a *virgin* Memorex CDRW of Slayers 2.5 on my unmodded xbox. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, thats kidan wild, but I think your options are limited, since you no longer have ftp access, or a save game entry.

I'm not sure about slayers, you could try, but I think in the end you'll have to hotswap to gain access, to change the files.

Good luck

Right, I'm a bit confused about what you've done. Lemme understadn - you renamed the c:\xboxdash.xbe into something dodgy and broke the savegame somehow?

The easiest thing is get the 007 savegame exploit on a memory card and 007:AUF. IIRC, AUF has the unique ability of being able to load the exploit from the memory card. From there you have EvoX where you can set up the FTP access, where you can restore all the original folders.

However, it just seems you messed up your EvoX settings in the savegame exploit which are easily fixed by inputting them manually.

My two bits: if you're not afraid of opening your box, hotswapping is, in my experience, easy and painless with xboxhdm 1.8. Just unplug the Xbox DVD IDE cable, power on both systems, and when your PC reaches the boot: prompt, hotswap. Select the appropriate option (probably <1>), and viola! Direct access to your xbox hard drive, no sweat.

For reference, I find things go smoother when you disconnect as many extraneous PC drives as possible -- the best is with my boot CD in the secondary master and the primary master hookup ready and awaiting your Xbox HD.

That AUF hack would have worked.....except I REALLY messed up yesterday by leaving the Xbox unplugged so now it won't even boot games and is stuck in a clock loop. Swapping looks to be the only option left.

Or fitting a modchip...
