Full Version: Considering Hdd Upgrade

I'm considering an upgrade from my current stock HDD to a considerablly larger drive, but I don't know what to get. I'm looking for around 100GB to 150GB and preferablly 7200RPM. Also, I need a drive that still works with the Original MS Kernel and Dashboard in case I have trouble with my mod chip.

What drives are recommended that fit within these specs (More info about my box below)?
EDIT: Also, what is good price wise?
(I, myself, trust Western Digital and Seagate. I loathe Maxtor, because I've had a quite a few of them give me trouble in the past.)

My Current XBOX Setup:
Console - Translucent Green Halo Edition Version 1.4 XBOX
TSOP(s) - Defualt MS Kernel from TSOP / EvoX M8 emulated from modchip
Dashboard(s) - Default MS Dash from original Kernel / EvolutionX from EvoX M8 (MS Dash linked)
Modchip - ZenICE Solderless
Modchip Kernel - Zenium OS 2.0 beta (pre-release)
DVD - Stock Phillips DVD-ROM
HDD - Stock 8GB Western Digital (I think it's WD, it's been a month since I last opened the box. The size is correct though, 'cus I have 0GB free on the F:\ Drive)

Everyone of the Maxtor drives that I have had or that my friends had crashed after a couple months. Also, after some research in these forums, it looks as if most of the Maxtor drives have poor and/or random compatibility with the Xbox. Some of a certain model will lock and others of that same exact model won't. So you're playing Russian Roulette with the HDD being compatible when you order a Maxtor.

However, I wouldn't mind WD and SG (since their the stock brands as well). But I don't know which models are good with lockablity and their price.
