Here's a little tool I coded to backup your nfl dvd9 disk to a dvd5
InstructionsYou first need to have the contents of the DVD9 game in a folder on your pc.
Extract the exe and dat file from the rar archive.
Run the tool. Click the browse button [...] and browse to the directory of the game that contains the '0' file (ESPN_NFL_2K5\vc_53450030)...
Click the GO! button and sit back because it may take a while (especially on slower pc's

)
Once you see the message 'Process Complete' you can close the tool.
Your game directory should now be approx 4.25GB in size ready for you to burn to a dvd5 disk
*All Movies are removed using this tool - also some music
Get the tool HEREMOD EDIT: Fixed link to tool.

Found a little bug in tool that I've just fixed, but for anyone who has already downloaded the pre-fixed version check your
ESPN_NFL_2K5\vc_53450030\and if you see a file called
0_NEW make sure you rename it to
0 before you create a new iso.
The link in my first post contains the latest (bug fixed) build of the tool.

I don't think that's quite the same thing as what he coded here.
[Sonix], nice work. Since there have been so many topics started on this subject, I'm going to pin this topic temporarily so that posting on this topic is curbed (in theory).
Nice job.

Very nice work Sonix... been sitting on these files for quite some time. Nice to get a working copy.
And, a cute little interface. Solid.

For some reason, the game is not working for me. After using your tool I burned the game and from the beginning there are many glitches. There is no music at all; when picking teams the helmets for each team is just a shadow; it freezes when I first try to play a celeb vip; there is no Chris Berman or voice when a game loads up, just a blank screen that says press A to skip then goes to the screen where it says (insert team) vs (insert team) but without the voice, then it just freezes on a black screen after that and I cannot play a game.

Think I've found a bug which may cause your problem BigCnasty31 (sorry about that)
Tool is offline for a little while until I can update/test..won't be too long tho

Ok, tool is back online all bugs are fixed (the link in my first post will get you the latest version 1.2)
After the process has finished check the folder called "vc_53450030" and double check all files are the following names/sizes:

This should be final version now as I've tested thoroughly on both dvd and hard drive and no probs found

hey sonix great tool, i just have one question what exactly did you get rid of in terms of movies and music? is it just the live action footage and such? how much of that crap was on there to take so much memory anyway
-PK-
Aug 20 2004, 08:14 AM
some of the videos are quite big actually, i think the other espn games video takes up the most out of em.
Nice tool

PS what did the files end up being? binary dat's?
[Sonix]
Aug 20 2004, 12:02 PM
@zhugeliang
All the movies were taken out exept for the espn logo one (all the other movies were relinked to this one) also the background music tracks were removed.
@-PK-
The extracted files were just files, just no filenames or extensions....the movies could be played (with glitchy sound) in power dvd if you added the .mpg extension to the extracted movie files.

sonix, the program works great.. theres only one or two things that i need to say about the backup. after the sega logo leaves the screen in the start up, its followed by the espn video game sounds screen, i noticed, that in the back up it replays that logo like 4 times.. and than it shows the screen that saids press start, i dont know if i did somethign wrong or thats the way its suppose to be, or maybe theres a small bug, and also im playing a franchise with the dolphins, and when im playing at home instead of both touchdowns having the dolphins logo, it has the dolphins in one end, and cardinals in the other.. but other than that the game plays great.. Good Job, im glad someone finally cracked this sucker up!

this too. and the game would lock up. you can skip this though by pressing the "a" button.
but in-game the screen would just freeze and lock up as well and now have to reboot.

Its supposed to be that way. There were 4 different videos that should have played but because of there size they were removed and relinked to a smaller one, the one you see 4 times.
Hopefully you can understand what I'm trying to get at.
Sonix great job!!! Didn't know you were in the XBox scene as well!!

i extracted all of the files okay with your program. i made an iso with craxion, and burned the image in nero...like i have with all of my backups. when i put it in the xbox, it doesn't recognize the disc. am i just suppose to burn the files in nero without making an iso first? or would you suggest that i do something different? thanks

I just put the game in my dvd drive (Samsung), started up dvd2xbox 0.5.9, loaded the game in the drive, selected directory, and hit start. I did this 3 times and tested each time and I have yet to have the game not work. Not sure what the problem is?

I just used the Tool and after it was done my game was still 4.6 GB. Do I delete the " Ripped " folder after it is done? I think removing the folder would make my game small enough to burn.
tehon3299
Sep 24 2004, 12:26 PM
4.6GB is small enough to burn on to DVD. A single layer DVD can hold up to 4.7GB.
