is it possible to use the eeprom that config magic provides to replace a messed up eeprom. I do not want to use xbox live. Also would it matter if I used a v1.0 eeprom on a >1.0 xbox.

yeah you can use the eeprom image that configmagic makes as a backup. but there are 3 different non-interchangable versions of the xbox eeprom:
1- v1.0
2- v1.1-1.5
3- v1.6
so no, dont use a 1.0 eeprom on a >1.0 xbox.

thanks but I was wondering if you can use the file eeprom.bin that comes with configmagic. My eeprom is messed up and I have no backup.

If you are using config magic it will autocorrect any version issues if you do use an incorrect version. But yes you can just use the blank eeproms.
