if you can get the mega-x-key software (which will include the drivers), you can trick the software into thinking it's a mega-x-key memory card.

i was wondering if i already have an xbox that i can ftp to and i want to softmod another xbox, can i just upload the files to to modded xbox and then save the files on the MS memory card. then use that memory card on the unhacked xbox. will this allow the exploit to work?

Trying to do the mod but my mem card a kingston deskstar which is on the list does the flashy memory screen thing and wont work.

I have kernel 5530 and dash 5960 and wonder if this may be the problem, I don't have cash for another stick even if it isn't.

depends. If you have the exploit named "SplinterCell_with_Evox" exploit, this is temporary and doesn't install anything onto your xbox. it is mainly used for temporary FTP acces or and to manually install an xbx exploit. if you have the UDE installer (SC_PAL.rar package) it is a mini version of linux that does everything fo ryou and is permanent. it can be uninstalled at any time.

no you do not need the AR software if you have a modded xbox. plug in the memory card, FTP into your xbox and put the saves into the H:\ or I:| or another letter after those.

i dont know if anyone has said this, but the saves on xbins are AR compatible. (at least for me)
instead of putting the save into the folder, just drag it from wherever it is into the middle of the AR software thing. (where it shows the saves on the computer)

Forthex, I need you Help!! I Followed all of your directions and sucessfully got Both of the game saves on to my Xbox HD (I am Using the Splinter Cell ltools). I go into Startgame then choose the linux profile and choose load checkpoint then my xbox just freezes. How do i get it to install the UDE/ltools explot? BTW i have a v1.0 Xbox K:4034 D: 5659

to arkade: you either have a fluke xbox or you formatted the card with another xbox, right?

to yokg: i can see you use Live. this might be a problem. Try getting a hold of a 4290 dash or at least a lower dash than yours (i won't tell you were, just guess, but be careful where you get it), then get a temporary Evox exploit (SplinterCell_with_Evox.rar from the usual place), get FTP acces into your access, replace all the files in the C:\ with the files in the 4290 dash and reboot. Then, you should be able to install the UDE.

Remember to use the backup feature in Evox and find your eeprom.bin file and put it on your PC. it is also a good idea to backup your C:\ and E:\ on your PC, incase you fuck up anything.

But the weird thing is that i dont use live... Also i thought UDE was supposed to work on an xbox with any dash version?

did you by a used xbox, or a new one? if you bought a used one, the person before you could have used Live. and yes the UDE is supposed to work on almost any xbox. you might have to wait for the UXE to come out. (see the xbe exploit forum)

Ok, I cannot even get started on this for some reason. I try and format my SanDisk Cruzer mini 128 but when I go to the memory tab in my dashboard the thing just keeps flashing and never formats or gives me even an error. Any help?

Ok, I've looked and looked, and can't find an answer to my problem. I got the AR software to recognize my Gateway 16MB stick. I formatted on my Xbox, and everything works. I transferred a save to my USB stick, and went to put it on my Xbox. My Xbox recognized the stick, and even the type of save, but the save was corrupt. I tried over and over, and couldn't get any saves to transfer. I even took a good save from my Xbox, transferred it to my PC, and when I tried to put it back on my Xbox, it was corrupt. What's up with that?

to MmanGG: sandisk mini cruzers don't work. sandisk cruzers (with no mini in the name) do work. it's just a compatibility issue. try another card.

ak2db: try getting a bigger sized stick. this could be the problem becuase some cards do courrupt data over a few megabytes under the FATX file system (they weren't built for it, but you can still format it).

I could use some help with this. I have a lot of usb flash drives that when inserted to the xbox, via the modded cabling will format and become an awesome memory card. Now when plugged into the usb of the pc I get nothing. I have tryed the megaxkey software yet NO JOY yet. I am searching for a remedy for this just no luck as of now. If someone can help. That would be awesome!

The drive is a AD pintech usb 64 meg flash drive. If more info is needed. I will try to gather it. Thank you for your time

I heard people could play Halo 2 on their xbox using a softmod, what directions would be the best to get this working? I don't have it yet and it's only 9 more days, but it might be helpful in the future...

I've had an horrible day trying to make the AR to like my USB Thumb Stick (MS brand... dunno what's inside). What worked for me was :
- to uninstall all hardware related to my usb thumd stick
- to uninstall all AR software I've tried (1.05, 1.2, 1.31)
- reboot
- reinstall AR
- redo the magic trick from forthex (what's all this thread is all about) with usbview and stuff
- reboot
- and then sundently the AR liked my usb thumb stick

Edit : Error was "the usb device failed to enumerate" which a lot of you seem to have. You can make it too

Edit 2 : Seems my thumb drive is only working one time after every reboot. Don't ask why.

I have bought an xbox off ebay not too long ago, and it's my first xbox. After a lot of research and reading hours, I learned that my xbox is a v1.0 along with other stuff.

I have purchased the Xecuter v3 chip, butg waiting on it to come (5 days still no show :/

Aaaanyways.. While I was waiting on it I stumbled on forthex's post regarding soft-mods. So I went out, bought an Action Replay and Mechassault. Then I downloaded Gouki's Soft Mod rar, and went to work.

Surprisingly I had almost NONE of the troubles the others had (I read all 17 pages of forthex's thread, along with Gouki's ReadMe, and ALL THE TUTORIALS on X-BOX Scene regarding softmodding.

As a PC expert (I work for a security company that tests debugs software for various companies) I know my way around most of the stuff, but xbox and *nix... I plop ;p

Anywho... After I got EvoX to work, I went ahead and tried to run MameOX (the latest) and it crashed with a nice

Error 21

So I decided to try ltools v18. MY GOD! I wish I hadn't...

It sux. Why? Well, first it said it can't update b/c my dash was too old, so I went and got MK Deception (had my eye on it ;p ) and ran the live to d/l the latest dash (5096) then ltools installed with THESE options:

PBL Metoo
X2 Bios
and dualboot

Well, after the nice matrix like screen, walla I was able to run MameOX. Now the trouble was MaMeOX wasn't seeing my roms ( Iplaced them in the folder MaMeOX says it to) but didn't work. Then I saw that in the config file, I have to enter the folder name, I went to enter but they didn't add the "_" char to the menu, so I said "what the hey, Ill rename the folder" Well I made it just "mame" but then Ltools gave an error saying "default.xbe" can't be found. So I renamed it back.

I said screw it to myself, and d/l'd kawa-X (another mame emu for xbox) and placed in E/APPS/kawax ... well, when I go into Applications it doesn't even show up!!

I thought maybe I need to sign it (Gouki's has this bat that signs stuff for you.) so I did that and placed it back in the folder, then re-uploaded via FTP. Still no go!

Now the trouble I am having is ANNOYING AS HELL. I had tried to install ltools before, and it kept booting into linux then turning orange and stopping. (I waited 15 minutes and no response) So, I had to boot back in with gouki's ma, ftp in, delete C, restore the C files ( I had backed it up.) delete the shit in D drive (there is a ltools folder) delete the crap in the E folder. And we're back to my org. had to re-do the live update. and then re-installed ltools...

Right now... I have ltools v1.8 installed. Can't rename stuff from the apps folder. Can't use any new apps. Can't change the damn network settings ( by default it's set to 192.168.0.3 and it's annoying as hell! B/c my network settings are totally different)

All I want to do is run some sort of mame emu and play them on my xbox folks... any help?

First off, uninstall ltools (sorry) and delete it once you have a normal xbox again.
Then, modify the IP in the mxm.xml file in the ltools package:



then, use AR to upload it to the mem card, mem card to HD, etc.

then you should have an ltools package with a custom IP, so then you can remame/edit\put on apps, games\whatever.

yes, you do have to habibi-sign .xbe's, or else PBL wont load them.

I formatted my Sandisk Cruzer Micro 256MB with a v1.1 xbox and it worked fine in a 1.6. So leave yours formatted and try it.
