to answer your question, (like many times before):
xbins.
and yes their is a PAL version but becasue you sound like a newbie, i would recomend ldots' ltools UDE installer. (/XBOX/Operating Systems/linux/distributions/ltools/ltools_v1.7.5_SC_PAL.rar)

the PCdatabase.dat does not recognise my save which have the datelifo.xbx in the first folder as described in the tutorial here..

I'm having the same problem, and I copied a MechAssault save to my xbox around a year ago or something to mod it, so this method has worked in the past for me. Now I changed my st.db file and screwed it up. Since I dont want to rent MA I'm trying to use the SplinterCell save. I copy the datelinfo.xbx to the exact same places as in the tut and it still doesn't work
[UPDATE] Same save which doesn't work in AR does work in Mega-X-Key software, unfortunatly MXK doesn't recognise my xbox mem card. Also couldn't find an older version of AR anywhere

Thanks for this. You are not wrong, I am a newbie and feel welcomed it here.
I have downloaded splinter_cell_PAL zip file at xbinx (after a long reading about xbins), and also downloaded ltools_v1.7.5_SC_PAL.rar.
All I understand is that after following and completing your tutorial, then I have to do XBE exploits. Though I am not sure what that is yet, but I guess I have to do one at a time first (as there are so much things to know about softmod).
Could you please let me know

ok, ldots' ltools UDE intaller is an all-in-one XBE exploit installer package. It's preffered for newbies because it is easy to use and very straight forward.
Anyway follow my tut on how to put saves on the USB stick, then transfer the two gamesaves to the harddrive. Part2 crashes splinter cell and allows any unsinged .xbe files to be used, and part1 is the actual installer (this has to be the only splinter cell save on your harddrive. when you get to the mission select screen, choose the checkpoint Linux". You should now be in the installer. It should be really straight forward and easy. after you have chosen everything, your xbox could be making some funny noises, but that's ok. wait untill a message on your TV that says "it is now safe to turn off your xbox" turn it off, then back on again, and you should be at the dashboard of your choice!
NOTE:
if you have an xbox with a kernal over 5300 (i believe) choose the UDE2.
i assume you live in the US or Canada

I unziped splinter_cell exploit into C:\xbox\splinter_cell
However, I stucked at step 2.2.
I use the default directory as you mentioned (C:\Program Files\Datel\Action Replay XBOX\ Save) , but cannot follow instruction (I think it is not for DUMMY).
Would you please be elaborate step 2.2 a little bit in more details, i.e. copy which file/s (from where) to which directory (to where) - STEP BY STEP.

1. yes
2. no, that's a gamesave exploit to allow the person to
temporarily get into evox and gain FTP access. This is only good if you know how to manually put the hacks in (in your case spacemaster, DON'T!!) or copy DOAXBV to the harddrive and play it with a nude hack

(don't ask me how, find out yourself... NOT FOR PEOPLE 10 AND UNDER... or anyone who finds shameless nudity offending).
go into xbins and go to \xbox\operating systems\linux\distrobutions\ltools and choose the Splinter Cell Pal exploit.
and when you get into the installer, choose UDE 1, PBL metoo (BIOS loader), and X2 49xx (i forget the last two numbers: this is the BIOS).
oh and just a heds up, don't sign your posts with "milkywaymaster". I know who you are.

Question:
1) Is this the only file that I need to download ? since I cannot find those UDE 1, PBL metoo (BIOS loader), and X2 49xx anywhere in xbins
2) I unrar this file and found part1 and part2 ziped files. Then I unziped these 2 files again, I have folders as you mention in the tut. However, in the directory 5553000c, there are 3 files instead of 2. They are
> SaveImage.xbx (additional)
> TitleImage.xbx
> TitleMeta.xbx
Do I need to remove the additional SaveImage.xbx file ?
3) After step 2.2. What do I have to do ? copy these files into USB stick ? How/steps ?
Thank heaps!

Sep 2 2004, 01:27 AM
1. Yes, it is a PACKAGED save and includes everything you need.
2. Do not remove the saveimage.xbx file.
3. plug your now moddified USB stick into a USB port on your PC, open the Action replay software, drag the two saves (part1 and part 2, with the datelinfo.xbx files in them) into the Memory card section. The bar behind the "MEMORY CARD" text should fill up, from left to right, orange. When it is done, you should see the two saves in the MEMORY CARD column.

Hmm, with my RCA lyra mp3 player the xbox sees it as a memory card and formated it. But after 10 seconds or so the mp3 player will flash saying file transfer and the xbox exits out of the memory card manager and only shows the hard drive. I followed the tutorial and got my mp3 player to be recognized as a Maxdrive..but I can't drag and drop the game save since the AR doesn't see a memory card.
Could it be a problem with the mp3 player? I'm going to try my digital camera next..but I don't want to mess the digicam or the mp3 player.
EDIT: After plugging in my 256 sd card, the xbox sees the memory card and is stable(it does not exit out of the memory manager and I managed to save a copy of house of the dead 3) It should work...however it doesn't work in Action Replay..perhaps I should downgrade? No memory card shows up under the AR software. I'm gonna restart and see if the maxdrive driver updated perhaps..

The problem I'm having now is that I can't copy the ltools MA 1.75 to the Action Replay software(both the old and the new version) No memory card shows up. However I used Ozxmemory USB explorer and wrote the FATX images from www.xbox-linux.org and the xbox sees the game saves(dashboard recovery, run linux, and something else) I succesfully copied the saves onto the xbox hard drive which means that my mp3 does work as a memory card..it's just that action replay doesn't read it. (the device manager sees MaxDrive, and yes I followed the tutorial whichs says to changed the xbreader.ini file and I'm pretty sure I followed it correctly.

the reason why the savegames you wrote to the memory card aren't showing up in AR is because they aren't AR compatible saves: ozxmemory writes savegame IMAGE files to an xbox formatted USB stick, and the AR software puts the actual files straight to the card. It's like the difference between an ISO file (writing the saves with ozxmemory), and the contents of the ISO file (using the AR software): the ISO is an image (1 file), and the contents are REAL files (1 folder per save).
and the ozxmemory image files don't have the datelinfo.xbx files needed for the AR software to see that these are real AR saves.

spacemaster, you cannot see the two saves because they aren't in the folder where the AR looks for it's saves.
You can either drag the files from the directory they are in into the "PC DATABASE" column in the AR software:

or copy the saves directly into the save:

yes spacemeaster, this is fine. "Linux installer" and "all levels unlocked" are the real names of the saves, and if your wondering, the save that crashes the game is called "all levels unlocked" because the datelinfo.xbx file is from a save called "all levels unlocked".
I believe I am using 1.31 (the lastest)... i don't know why you guys are having problems.
and to dstruct, do not plug your memory stick into your adapter when you are the the memory screen. I have had this same problem. Plug your stick into your adapter when you are at the main menu of the dashboard (where you can select memory, music, settings, and Live, if you have live).

there is a PAL version of AR. That's probably it! You guys who are having transfer problems, you might have the wrong version of the software. I mean, you might have the NTSC version, when you need the PAL version (i assume you guys live in Europe, Australia, etc.).

the reason why the memory screen blinks is because the xbox has a problem refresshing the memory screen when you add a memory card. Pug in the card before you turn your xbox on, or when you are at the main menu.
and the error message is normal. your USB stick is PC formatted when you first get it, or if you use it on your cmputer. the error message means that the stick has been formatted by the xbox and can now be used as an xbox memory card.

your stick probably doesn't work with the xbox. The xbox is probably trying to format the stick, but can't and tries, over and over again. Try using another stick, or if you can't, use a Compact flash card: I use one, and they work without a sitch.

Sep 5 2004, 01:32 AM
spacemaster, the website won't give you the old version because they want to patch any exploits, or flaws in the software, so i would try a P2P client.
infounknow, i'm not sure. If you could do this, it might not work, becuase even though the stick would work on an FATX system, it would not have the information the xbox put on it to make it a working memory card. it like with my 128MB CF card, it can only use 122MB, because it is PC formatted, and contains the windows XP drivers. and when i use it on the xbox, it has a storage capacity of about 7732 blocks (1000 blocks repressent about 16 MB). so, my card is always loosing 6 MB of storage room due to formatting.
This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content. To view the full version with more information, formatting and images, please
